HI,
I"m in my 40's and have a second cousin who is 20 something that is getting married. Our whole large, 100's of ppl., family live within 30 min of each other in a small town. My two brothers and I live far away out of town.
Anyway, last time I saw this cousin she was 10 yrs old approx. I do not communicate with her or her mom (my 1st cousin). Not for any reason, just too many of us to keep in touch.
My Mom is upset because... going by the family tree, most of the 2nd cousins got invited to the wedding but us 3. How can I help her understand that it's not just based on the family tree, but on how close you are with ppl?
I'm not upset about it, but she is upset that HER 3 kids did not get invited.
What do you think?
There are lots of reasons why not everyone is invited to a wedding.
IMO I would not expect to be invited to a second cousin's wedding, unless I was close to him/her. Heck, I've not been invited to some of my _first_ cousins' weddings, and it didn't bother me.
