Since when did it cost $25 or $30 to get your yard mowed?

Well my neighbor have same amount of gradd as I do! They pay 40 buck and get it done every 4 to 5 days! I have hubby do it because not worth the money too me and they do horrible job.

My SIL mows lawns for a part time second job. He charges different amounts, depending on the size of the yard. I can understand why it costs alot to get a yard mowed. He bought 2 riding mowers, 1 push mower, 1 weed whip, a pick up truck, an enclosed trailer, an open trailer, a machine that sucks up leaves, a 4 wheeler with a sprayer on back to spray weeds ect.... Then he has to pay taxes on all of the money he makes, plus the cost of the gas. It will take him many years of mowing to even start to make a profit after spending so much $ on equipment plus repairs of the equipment. Also, we live in Minnesota, so we only mow our grass for 6 months out of the year, because we have snow the other 6 months, but he has to pay the payments on the equipment all year long.

We have a small yard, and the going rate is about $25 for the kids in the neighborhood. Mostly we just pay someone to do it as DH is usually too busy to do it and I just refuse. We haven't ever done any real landscaping (as far as design), I'm afraid to find out how much it would cost to have it done.

Too do nice landscaping in front and back you are look at atleast 2 grand! I need new landscaping too cheap too get it done..

We have a small yard. The going rate was $50.00- $60.00 last summer. We cut our own.

Most of the kids who came by this winter wanted $40.00 just shovel the driveway.

Ours was $35 to do the front and back including weed wacking a few years ago. It just got to be too much to pay that every week. At the time, DH was working 7 days I a week, so I bought a push mower and did it myself. Now that he is around more, he borrows our neighbors gas powered push power and gives him money for gas.

That would be a normal price here but we have a large yard too..

We have what some would consider a large yard. Although it's certainly not the full acre that I had growing up. DH does the mowing. But I did pay a neighborhood kid $15 a couple years ago to mow it once. DH hadn't had time in about two months and I was tired of living in a jungle. I would've done it myself, but DH has an irrational fear of people being injured from mowing. His uncle died as a result of a lawn mower related injury. And I can't get that mower started by myself anyway.

I hear yah on that. We had a friend die from a mower accident. She was using a push mower, and hit a small piece of wire. It flew out and the piece of wire went into her heart. You always just think about "Don't cut off your toe" but their are other things that can happen too.
