Yeah, I guess it makes a difference when you never did it before having kids

I think of my grandma though. I hope to be like her when I am her age She raised 4 kids and then after babysitting some of her grandchildren so the parents could work she decided to work at her husband's company full time. She is not close to 80 and still works 40 hours a week and LOVES it. She never worked when her kids were little or before kids so she says she got the best of both worlds. I swear she has more energy than me though. When I am her age I don't know if I will still be working

HI Re: What do you plan to do once your kids leave the nest??

    Hi,

When DH retires in about 30 years from his job at a Defense company (NG) where he is an Elec. Engineer Mgr., we will continue to farm on our acreage. We started off with 25 acres several years ago and have now added another 75 acres for a total farm of 100 acres. Our kids will most likely farm too after college.

We like to travel too. Right now we use our RV and travel with kids who are still young. When I can I travel with my DH when he travels for work. We have a large extended family/relatives that assists us when we are out of town on our farm.

Right now I am finishing my classes for my Master's degree in Food Science/Nutrition online at Kansas State University. Hopefully, by the end of Fall 2011, I will finish. I am taking 1 class now for Spring 2011 online called Food Protection & Defense Essential Concepts. Yes, quite a mouthful!

Summer I will be taking a break since I haven't had one in 3 years. We are talking about adding to our our family too so we shall see.

The magnetic bumper stick that my DH had made for my Ford Excursion after our twins were born several years ago that states "Cheaper by the 1/2 dozen or not?" may need to be revised--ha ha!! We now have 6 kids and may decide for more!

I will let my HCW coupon buddies know.

Yes, University of MD--College Park, MD is the only college that has the kind of program that I wanted to pursue; but because of the long distance involved, I researched online the ADA (American Dietetic Assn.) and discovered KSU. Still miss the physical class interaction; but you do what you gotta do right?

Well THIS YEAR when we talk of when the last child graduates from HS we will buy a bed and breakfast and do that (8 yrs from now)...I LOVE to bake and cook breakfast so it kinda makes sense to do something like that. However every year it changes...BUT it usually does involve us moving to the mountains. Pipe dreams probably, but we both loves the mountains (I even have the county picked out in NC) buy a home there and come back to the city 3 days a week to work (telecommute the other 2)-and we rent an apartment. Hubby has a co worker that does something similar (but they live on a lake near the mts).

I had my first kid when I was 21 BUT it was when hubby was in the Navy and not around a lot. When we first got married he was in school from 7am and didn't come back home until 11pm then he went away on a sub for 4 months and I didn't see him at all (It was not a good time in our lives either). The first 5 yrs we were poor and he was in school at night and working on the boat (we were lucky he wasn't gone a whole lot compared to others)...Then after he got out he worked days and I worked nights so we didn't see each other much. My kids are 20, 16 and 11, I quit my job when #3 was born (after working 60+ hrs a week for 4 yrs). I just feel like I have never really been able to spend a lot of time with my husband. I do think about it-especially since all I have heard Suze Ormond say lately (on the Today show or Oprah) "the new American dream needs to be that you work until you are 70." I don't want hubby working until he is 70 and I know he doesn't want that either. I hope she is referring to all those people that are in debt up to their eyeballs and not just us people that have money in 401K and IRAs and have little to no debt.
I look forward to grandchildren but that aint happening anytime soon. I want to give to my grandchildren what my grandparents gave to me-great memories NOT what my parents have given to my grandchildren-little to no memories at all.

uummm--Your plans sounds great. We haven't been to a B&B before. Sounds like fun.

Yes, leaving your kids with memories is important and something that money can't buy! Hope you realize your dreams for you and your DH/kids.

Well angeleyeza - I hate to tell you this but even once they're grown and have (supposedly) left the nest they still barge in at all hours of the day and night (if you're lucky, LOL) so be careful or they're likely to see mom in an entirely different way!
