moms living with SPD kids, or special ed teachers/therapists
My son has a duplicate chromosome, and as part of his condition he has autistic behaviors and sensory processing disorder. He's never received an autism Dx (he's only 4) but clearly he's on the spectrum and is treated as such. He goes to an all special needs school.
I drove him up to school today & briefly chatted with his teacher. They had team meetings last week, and extensively discussed my little guy. His stimming behavior is so out of control, that they can't get him to focus on any school activities. If they try to get him to put beads or marbles in a container, he just wants to shake the container. If they try to get him to build with blocks, he just wants to bang the blocks together. He constantly has to be rocking, flapping his arms, head shaking, he stands on his head for extended periods of time. The bathtub (at home) is a nightmare because he stims on water dripping on his face. Give him a dinner utensil, he just wants to rub his cheek or head with it. Give him a book and he just flips the pages against his face. He used to love to read books, now he doesn't anymore.
He's an extreme sensory/movement seeker.
What we've tried--
compression vest
weighted vest
weighted backpack
bouncing him on balls
swings
swinging him in blankets
music/listening therapy
sensory diet
jumping/bouncing
I spend all afternoons, after school, jumping from one activity to the next, trying to keep him busy, or he'll just resort to sitting & stimming in some capacity.
We're meeting next week to go over more ideas, and his OT comes here Wednesdays. But we've seen numerous PTs, OTs, etc. over the past 3 years, I feel like we've tried everything that's been tossed our way.
Any ideas........anyone?

She wanted to know where you lived (so I sent that info) and she sent me back this:
does she have it on video? It usually works better if I can see it. I have an assessment I'd like her to complete too--just have to figure out how to do it with her. Would she be willing to do something like that?
I can suggest her on FB...and you guys can chit chat if you like.

Sarah, I hope your sister can help. I worked w/ special needs kids (kids w/ autism mostly) for a couple years and honestly didn't have any other ideas. I'd be very interested to hear what else is suggested, though.
