The lead is found in the paint. The heaviness of the plastic literally has nothing to do with it.
guys
i am wondering if someone can help me out. i apologize it's not really about coupons or saving but it is about CVS. let me know if this is a problem or if this belongs somewhere else.
i got a valentine skittles pack today by a secret admirer and it came in this plastic heart shape container. it's about the size of your fist. after i finished the skittles the container felt a little heavier than i would think. i know it came from CVS because it was in a CVS bag.
i know in the past we've had problems with lead in toys and such from foreign countries like china and mexico.
this one was from mexico.
now i know lead is bad for kids. i don't know about adults and i don't have kids near me so i'm probably fine but does anyone know how to tell if a container has lead in it? besides the weight? i'm like 99% sure it's lead cuz plastic shouldn't weigh this much.
thanks

k so why is it so heavy then?
there are many different forms of plastic. If you are worried you can get a lead testing pen from any hardware store or walmart/target.
lead touching something doesn't hurt you. just don't eat the container the candy came in.
Raising children(especially teens) is like being pecked to death by a chicken
In my defense, I will only bid human beings in the auction forum if it's a MM.
k so why do people make a big deal out of lead then?
i brought it back to cvs and the clerk agreed it was heavier than it looks. i guess there are other things that might be inside that is just as heavy as lead tho.

This is from the CDC
Children may be exposed to lead—a well known health hazard. Toys that have been made in other countries and then imported into the U.S. or antique toys and collectibles passed down through generations put children at risk for such exposure. To reduce these risks, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issues recalls of toys that could potentially expose children to lead.
Lead may be used in two aspects of toy manufacturing.
Paint: Lead may be found in the paint on toys. It was banned in house paint, on products marketed to children, and in dishes or cookware in the United States in 1978; however, it is still widely used in other countries and therefore can still be found on imported toys. It may also be found on older toys made in the United States before the ban.
Plastic: The use of lead in plastics has not been banned. It softens the plastic and makes it more flexible so that it can go back to its original shape. It may also be used in plastic toys to stabilize molecules from heat. When the plastic is exposed to substances such as sunlight, air, and detergents the chemical bond between the lead and plastics breaks down and forms a dust.

I am fairly certain there was lead in your skittles and that your secret admirer was actually a lead skittles assassin.
