I never saw pictures either...
But I knew about it. It was a practice that ended in the early 20th century, around WWl. It took an English missionary (Gladys Aylward) to begin the process of ending it.
There's a movie from the 50's, called "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" which tells her story. Stars Ingrid Bergman. I've watched it with my kids several times.

I will have to see if the library has that movie. I have read the book when it was part of our homeschool history study a few years ago.

No doubt it was implemented by men.

I have heard about the practice of wrapping feet to keep them small and how awful it is, but I have never seen a picture. It's no wonder they have to shuffle. My heart breaks for those women; how can that even be considered beautiful and a positive.
