I am planning on putting a tin roof on my deck it cost one thousand dollars, and I will bank the rest.
How much toward your stockpile depends upon the deals.
As usual I probably posted this in the wrong place, sorry MODS.
Anyway, the big question-What are you doing with your tax refund?
We are getting 4k back on federal and most of that is already spent, bills and such. We are working on our credit so we're paying a LOT of that stuff off. And then we're saving 1K to make a big impact on our emergency savings. And we're saving $500 or so for our trip to Seattle in March for business (NO KIDS). I am VERY excited!
Our state refund $800. Hubby said I could have that and do what I wanted with it. I feel like a kid in a candy store. OH all the things I could buy. But really what am I going to do with it. Buy myself a skirt and a dress. I don't want to buy too much right now, I'm in the process of losing weight, and right now NOTHING fits right. And what am I doing with the rest you ask?
I'm a couponer! I'm going to re-start my stockpile, darnit! We moved from Ga to FL this past December and to have the least amount of boxes to move I went through ALL my food stockpile!
So, here's another question-how much a week do you think I should put towards stockpiling. I was thinking $25, but then if these are awesome rock bottom prices then that's a ton of food!
What do you all think?

6/26/2010 I LOST the best part of me.
There are many forms of death - you can die physically, you can die mentally and you can sadly die from loneliness.
I have a list!!!
We're getting $3800 from the feds. We are thinking having the window motors in DH's car repaired (2 are broken and the windows are stuck in "up" position), but that's $1600 and his car is 10 years old- it will add no value to the car. We may just sock it away instead.
We're going to pay extra on my car note, probably $800.00 or so. The rest will go into savings, since I'm going on maternity leave in 4 weeks and we'll need the extra $$ later.
We're getting $400 from the state, and we'll be spending that on baby stuff and some misc. stuff that we need, but I have been too cheap to buy (new duvet covers, mattress pad, getting our down duvets professionally laundered/drycleaned since the washer/dryer in our apt. complex is too small and laundramats creep me out- esp. in our neighborhood).

If we get any money back from the feds...it will help us float this month as we will not get any paychecks.
the state will be the same.
I'm very worried we will end up having to pay fed though...as DH was getting paid weekly and it wasn't until december I noticed that very very little was being taken out of his check each paycheck.

bills, bills, bills, and more bills. *sigh* And we're buying the girls some practical bedroom items since the almost 5-year-old is outgrowing her toddler bed.
Just another nobody in the midst of all the somebodies.
We haven't done our taxes yet but whatever we get back will go towards our house. Better to pay extra now and save a lot of interest in the long run!

We plan on getting a new bed for DBF and I. A toddler bed for DD. New glasses and an eye exam for both DBF and I(it's been 5 years for the two of us since having new glasses.)I am getting my 2 theeth fixed.(at a Dental college in Nashville...they are cheaper than any dentist, plus it gives them good training.) I am getting my car fixed so we have another vehicle on hand and I can try to get a part time job for extra cash. Then DBF,DD, and myself need new clothes, so we will get that. We have 2 bills to pay off. They aren't too big so those will be paid. Then I am really going to start stockpiling alot more and get us to the point if something happens we have food, HBA, and paper goods on hand. Whatever is left over I am not too sure right now what we are going to do with it.

We will be putting the entire thing in the bank. We finally finished our basements last year so our savings account took quite a hit.
