Geez!! What a pain - hope everybody does ok.

When we had Hurricane Ike and lost power for 10 days we had a generator and by alternating it were able to save everything in both our stand-up freezers.

    Chicken is deboned.
    Muffins are cooled.
    Laundry is caught up.
    Egg are boiled.
Crumb cake is in the oven.
    School is cancelled.
    Aimee is on the couch.
    Snuggie is on.

Only problem is I didn't do the dishes, yet. But, darn it my dogs are barkin. Got my Taste of Home in the mail today. Yay. Something to read tomorrow if the power is off.

I am in Oklahoma. The weather station says "Blizzard" conditions about midnight. Sleet and snow (20") wholly . The generator is ready to go, emergency lanterns and flashlights are ready. Plenty of batteries and extra food supply. The weather authorities are thinking maybe several days before the temp gets above freezing (wind chills -20 below).

    Global warming?

I am right in the path of this freaking storm. I tried to get groceries that would feed us if the power went out. If it really ices up I hope we don't get too screwed. We have one of those driveways where the street is about roof level of the house. So, yeah, it could be days before we could get out if it really happens like they say it will. Ugh.

WE have plenty of food, really. Thanks HCW!!! A generator and 2 LP tanks that you attach a thing to for heat. Didnt have the generator last year when we a had a 4 day power outage due to an ice storm. (It WAS really pretty!LOL) Power co. said we were not high priorty cause only 4 houses on that grid. (rural) But we were warm! Live in town now but not worried; it's just IOWA in the winter time. LOL

Iowa, here too, and I am thinking you must be fairly close to me. We live in Southeast Iowa, south of Muscatine. Got a few extra groceries, and we have a very small generator, won't run the furnace but would run a couple of space heaters. I agree , it's Iowa in the winter. But, this one is bigger than normal.

In my defense, I will only bid human beings in the auction forum if it's a MM.

Ok, I just noticed something funny about this post. Everyone is posting their in the line of the storm...yet we have posts from all over the country. Thats one big storm we're going to get. 2 FPs here, no wood on hand, no generators...but lots of food, lol. I hope we don't lose power, YIKES!
    If it isn't free.....it isn't for me!

I guess if we lose power I can toss the meat outside to keep it frozen :)

Ohio here, weather calling for sleet and freezing rain then rain and back to freezing rain over the next 2 days. I'll take snow any day over ice. Hubby left early for Texas to try and beat the weather. I went out today to pay some bills and take the cat to the vet. I'm in for at least the next 2 days. Propane in the big tank and the whole house generator has a new battery. Other than being lonely I should be ok.

Only go out if you absolutely have too and if you do be very careful. Take care everyone.
