What is this on my scalp? (Photos included - not gross)

What are these flakes on my scalp? They are right where my face meets my hair line above one ear. They have been there for months - no matter how often I shampoo. I don't believe it is dry scalp because I have it nowhere else in my hair and have tried extra conditioning it in that spot. They do not itch or irritate in any way....just keep flaking off in that one spot and there's alot. They are somewhat yellowish in color. I was thinking it might be something that I put on my face to clean it or something like that - but it is nowhere else - not above the other ear or around my forehead where the skin meets the scalp so I ruled that out. It is not lice, I know that for sure. It doesn't even itch - it is just so much of it that it is noticable. It is nowhere else anywhere on my scalp or in my hair. Anyone have any ideas?

Looks like some form of dandruff and because it is yellowish in color I would take a guess that your oil glands there are involved. Have you tried washing that area of your scalp with dandruff shampoo?

I have washed my entire head with Head & Shoulders just to be in the safe side... it does nothing. As soon as the hair dries, the flakes are right back - they don't even go away with washing.

that reminds me somewhat of cradle cap that infants get. Id prob try and see my dr.

Can't afford a Dr. but I will look into cradle cap - I have never heard that term.

I used to scrape or pick at that stuff off my kids heads. I think you rub baby oil on it i beleive it was. There are at home stuff you can do but it really resembles cradle cap. Not sure exactly how one gets it but i recall my daughter having it as well as my son.

i see on alot of sites they recommend tea tree oil to rub it in the scalp in that area. they have tiny bottles of it for $3-$4 at walmart and stuff I think its near the ethnic hair care>
