HI I'm thinking about applying for a job at McDonalds: thoughts?

    Hello Friends,

I need some feedback here. I'm 55 and pretty much a stay at home wife. My engineer hubby got laid off 10 weeks ago and is looking at doing freelance stuff at home instead of going corporate again.

We're in a transitional state (sold house, no debt, no kids at home) and could relocate any time so I don't want to look for something more long term.

Has anyone worked at McDonalds as an older person? I just want an easy to get, mindless sort of job but I'm spoiled being able to set my own schedule, not to mention not being on my feet all the time.

    Feedback anyone???

    Thanks in advance,

    Janet

Could try temp work if you want instead! I did that in college and found the jobs more enjoyable.. I'm a social worker and the most stressful job I had was working on summer at Macy's because of the crazy customers and other sales folks! Temp work was nice as I didn't stay in one place long and I could pick and choose the jobs.

    Hope that helps. :)

I worked at McDonalds in high school and the biggest problem is that you smell like grease all the time...it gets into your cloths, shoes, hair, and esp your car. I can't describe the smell, but it is hard to get rid of and somehow manages to penetrate everything!

I would only choose fast food if it is your last alternative.

I agree, only because of the smell. Love the food this third pregnancy but I couldn't imagine coming home smelling like the place.

Have you thought about retail? I worked at Pier One PT and that was fun and the discount was great ;) The shifts were only 5 hours long and super flexible.

That being said though, I do have a friend that works FT at McD's intheevenings and he LOVES it. He's the guy who actually sings the catch phrase into the drive thru speakers when people pull up. He's super nice, lol, but a little *different* ;)

Another place is Walgreens/CVS/Rite Aid. What better place for a couponer to work at.

Thanks for the input. I hadn't thought about the grease smell ewwwww. I have a bachelor's degree and have had tons of jobs over the years but have never been a cashier. Somehow the thought of working a register is scary. I thought the McD job could be just the one in the back squirting on all that mayo that is usually more than anyone wants lol.

I worked at Michael's teaching scrapbooking a few years ago but I'm thinking that with all the scaling down, the only jobs available are the bare bones positions like cashiering or mayo slapping :)

The only thing with working WAGS/RiteAid/CVS they are open on all major holidays and if you are PT you will have to atleast work a couple of those holidays. Just from my exprience working in grocery retail.

Have you checked into greeting cards? Depending on the size of the store would depend on the hours work. Most of the stores I worked let me set my hours and what days I would come in and you work at you pace. The pay wasn't that bad.

    Mindless job?

Do you know how many times I've gotten 9 nuggets?! People may think it's a mindless job, but counting to 10 takes more skill than most realize.

I know you seek Jesus, who was crucified.
He is not here, for He is risen, as He said.
He IS Life, proven by the Resurrection.
