Default Moving to Nashville, need advice

We're moving. I'm excited because I love nashville and look forward to learning about a new area.

Is there anyone out there that is in/near nashville that could give me some advice about the area?

    Like:

High schools (I'm looking for an all around good school; education, band, jrotc, etc)

Neighborhoods (what neighborhood or suburb of nashville is a good area)

    Grocery stores

    Shopping

Places to stay away from (you know the bad areas)

General information (I already know that you have to pay to park in downtown nashville but what else)

    TIA

I'm in Cookeville-an hour east of Nashville. I don't know a whole lot about the area, but I just wanted to say welcome to Tennessee! I think you'll love it :) I know there are several CVS and Walgreens. There are 2 malls- Opry Mills & Green Hills. Green Hills is more "uppity" w/ the high end stores w/ expensive stuff. We don't go there often but there is a great movie theater there.
Opry Mills is the one we go to most often. They have stores like Old Navy, American Eagle, etc. They were closed after the flooding for a while but I think they are re-opened now. You should definitely go to the Opryland hotel and look around at Christmas time. They decorate beautifully-- that is if they are re-opened. I think they were flooded pretty badly.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've been there twice and we have driven around. We did go to Opry Mill but they are still closed. So we ended up at Rivergate (I believe this is the name). I have no idea where that is...LOL. We just followed the GPS. We've been by Green Hill and was told that the Green in the name ment money...LOL so expensive.

I know they have Krogers, Harris Tetter (that's not spelled right) and Publix. I also saw an Apple Mart and the net told me they have 5 Aldi's.

I've researched Brentwood High, Ravenwood High, and Franklin High but I only know about Ravenwood. It seems to be a great school but Nolensville is a hard area to get into. I've heard Brentwood is really uppity and if you don't have the money then you're not as good as them.

Brentwood is the Rich community. You should see of those houses ...OMG. I'm talking 10k sq ft. Those people have way too much money.

Antioch High has a good band but I'm not sure about the education.

I have a friend there and so does my husband but I'd like to hear from more that have lived there or currently live there.

I also can't wait to see the christmas decorations!
