I got them as a gift - and loved them...but I can't spend money on candles, no matter what the quality. I get too much glade for free/cheap.

I like the candles at Target. They are cheaper and I've bought them for years. I recently got the pumpkin spice candle as a gift and I don't think the scent is any more or less stronger than a Yankee.

Keep in mind for the Yankee coupons, you do not only have to buy those at a Yankee store. You can use those coupons at any store that sells them. I believe Target carries them, and I know for sure Cracker Barrel and Bed Bath and Beyond carry them as well.
Just wanted to jump in here for a sec. I work at Yankee and candle warmers do not extend the life of your candle. They actually will shorten it. There is a reason why Yankee does not make a candle warmer. Usually you see a picture of a candle warmer and it has a Yankee candle with it but we do not reccommend them at all. They work very similar to tarts. Here hopefully I can give you guys the low down. For my own personal taste I burn nothing in a jar unless it is a 2 wick or 3 wick. Any of my one wick jars get busted to use in my tart burner. Sounds crazy right? A tart burner is the cheapest most fragrant thing you can do. It really needs to be the tealight burning tart burner. Not the electric. Electric does not get as hot as a candle flame. It also needs to be our tealights. Cheap ones do not burn like ours...and believe me it all works out in the end price wise. The cheap ones metal part will cave and sometimes not even use all the wax. Let's not even get started about maybe only burning 2 hours at the most. Our tealights burn 4-6 hours and mine always go the full 6. That means I'm not having to check and see if the candle has went out every couple hours. I know if I start burning mine at noon I have roughly till 6pm. You will see a MAJOR difference in burn time but also in how your tarts smell. Our wax gets hotter which in turn makes the tart or oil burn hotter which produces more of a smell. I gauge my burns on my tealights. I get 2 maybe 3 burns in 6 hour intervals out of a tart. Now if you want to be frugal buy the votive...cut it in half...pull out the wick and the metal tab and you have two tarts for the price of one. If your not going to burn the other part right away you'll need to put it in the freezer to seal in the scent. If you can..get to an outlet. Their prices are sooooo much cheaper than the retail. Their tarts and votives are $1 a piece or 12 for $10 mix and match votives with tarts. I only buy tarts when I can't find it in the votive. That and the outlets have a gazillion more different scents. Large jars there are only $15 versus $25. Medium jars $12 instead of $22. An illumilid will help with your burn time. (gives large jars an extra 30 hours of burn time...it does this by utilizing ALL the wax) This will also help burn your candle evenly. If you aren't burning your candle 3-5 hours your not going to get an even burn. There needs to be liquid wax across the top. Illumilids help keep the draft from getting to the wick so you'll see how much more it burns evenly. You will also cut down on the soot. It collects under the lid. Sometimes an illumilid will correct a jar that's already started to tunnel. And another misconception which I read on the Kringle Candle Company website is that all candles produce soot. Even soy. It's just white soot. That was super interesting. So my point about the candle warmer is that it sucks the scent out just like a tart. It works on the same premisis. Your going to lose alot of scent quickly. Hope I helped. :)

I like Yankee, but I LOVE Gold Canyon Candles. I buy them online at their website. They are a bit cheaper than Yankee and have an awesome hot throw. Their baking line is the best. When I burn any candles from that line, DH always thinks I've really been baking.
