QUESTION Question for people who have lived in and/or visted BOTH Texas and Ohio...it's about Whataburger

I'll try to keep this short. My daughter and her SO moved back here to Ohio from Texas about a month ago. He's a Texas boy, born and raised. And he's getting a little homesick! Why? Because he misses the chicken strips at Whataburger!

    So, here's my question...

If you have lived in Texas AND Ohio, or have visted both places enough to know those strips pretty well...is there anything here in Ohio that compares to them? I can't eat meat, so I can't judge this! But he seems so sad whenever he talks about them. And he's having such a hard time adjusting to our cold weather. I'd like to help him out if I can!

It's a strange request...but you never know! Someone might know the answer!

I have never lived or been to Texas but if he wants some good chicken tenders, try Cane's Chicken if you have one near you. Its a pretty new chain and they only sell chicken tenders and fries but they are the best and their "special sauce" is so yummy!!!

I've been to Ohio and have lived in Texas all my life.... I haven't eaten at Whataburger in Ohio but I do know what chicken strips taste like in Texas. And if Cane's is the same as Raising Cane's (that is a chain here in Texas) he might like it. I do know that chicken strips in Texas - restaurants and home cooked versions tend to have alot of breading on them.... I don't know if that is the difference that makes him like it.... just a thought - sorry I can't be of much help..... I really only know the Texas side of food - but I have been to Ohio :)

If it is Raisin Cane's chicken you are speaking of-blech. I found that place to be overpriced and nasty. I was pretty peeved that we spent so much for so little.

As for what compares, I don't know. Do you have an Albertson's grocery store? Their deli's chicken strips are pretty good.

But as for why anybody would leave Texas...well, I just don't get it!

SHAME SHAME SHAME..... leaving texas........LOL... hey caroline how have you been???... can't believe she moved back up there...good for you... there doesn't seem to be much of a subsitute... you can try to make the whole meal though.... texas toast, (or thick bread if you have it)... and WHITE pioneer gravy, deep fry some salted fries and then add a deli chicken strips... may not be the best, but you can't go wrong..and maybe the gravy will help cover the lost flavor....HUGS

Do you have Zaxbys? They're pretty near to Whataburger strips.
