In theory there is a schedule but between my work schedule, my daughter, and SO's work schedule, we end up doing most of it on Saturdays.
Just curious as to how others tackle cleaning and organizing? I have been following flylady.com for a few years now and it has worked well for me. I have not had much time to organize lately though with a pretty busy schedule but hopefully now that winter is coming and the kids sports are ending soon it will free up some more time.

I have no cleaning schedule. usually doing dishs daily and laundry almost daily. I vaccuum vry couple days unless it is needed more.ugh E is getting stuck! We dont have set days to clean. Sometims i get in a crazy mood to clean and organize and do it all in one day.
Cleaning... cleaning...
Nope, doesn't ring a bell.
I do more serious cleaning just whenever which is probably not often enough. Stuff like laundry and dishes are on a schedule just out of necessity. I mean, it's not penciled in, but since we do not leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight, it means any dishes that haven't been washed throughout the day are washed each night. Laundry is generally done on the weekends because that's when it's convenient.

The only cleaning that's really on a schedule for me is the vacuuming, steam mopping, and dusting which are done together twice a week. Either on Mondays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Fridays. Whichever I feel like based upon how the place looks. And also the cleaning of the bathrooms which takes place once a week on either Wednesday or Thursday.
Laundry and other more specific cleaning is done when needed. And other things like dishes, cat litter, & recycling sorting are done daily.
I found another cleaning system..Motivated Moms. Looks kind of interesting. Has anyone used it before? I have to have some kind of system going or I will procrastinate. I like having everything on a checklist in front of me for the day, I am just weird like that![]()
Right now my cleaning system is:
Every day: Several loads of laundry, clean bathrooms (sink, toilets, mirrors and counters, do dishes, wipe kitchen counter.
Monday: Sweep kitchen and hallway floors and mop, dust, clean our shower, clean kitchen.
Tues: Sweep rest of downstairs floors, clean kids bathrooms
Wed: Sweep upstairs floors, clean our shower, dust
Thurs: Clean out car, clean bathroom rugs, clean kids bathtub, give dog a bath
Fri: Dust, clean our shower
Sat: clean kids tub
Sun: Make weekly menu and grocery list
So my house never really gets dirty since I stay on top of it but I feel like all I do is clean![]()
princess - I have a steam mop too - have had it about 1 1/2 years. I got it at WM after reading many reviews on WM and the Amazon site. Out of 424 reviews it has a 4 out of 5 star rating. It's gone down about $10 since I bought mine.

I ended up hiring someone as I just dont have the time working full time running the kids here and then trying to save money by coupon shopping. But I still have to do the windows, steam clean the carpets organize, vacuum as two dogs on a regular basis and wash over the floors etc. all the time as I like it spic and span.. I do get help from the family too.
This was a gift to myself when I stopped smoking a few years ago. Between the money I saved from that and the couponing my DH said I really deserve it..
36" floor brush - Shop sales, stores & prices at TheFind.comI use this type of brush saves me a lot of time when I sweep the floor and for wiping the floor I put a cloth around it and it make cleaning the wood and tile floors speedy clean..
I find that I am always picking up in my house so little time savers during the week really free up time on the weekend. Throwing a load of laundry or two in at night. get your kids in the habit of cleaning their rooms or putting their clothes away it all adds up. Trying to cook an extra meal or two on the weekend gives you free time at night to do other things so your weekends are free with the family I used to do this when my kids were small and we wanted to spend all weekend having friends over by the pool.![]()

jen - no wonder you feel all you do is clean! Do you really need to clean both bathrooms every day and do the showers twice a week?
It seems the bathrooms could go to once a week, and the showers every 2 weeks.
Your kids could help with some of these, like sweeping, dusting and helping clean out the car. They may not do it perfectly right away but it's the effort that's more important now. One of them may even like to clean counters and mirrors (or sweep) and would happily do it. I know they have school and sports, etc., but it would take only 10-15 minutes a day and getting them to help in a positive way builds confidence and helps them feel they are making a contribution in the family.
They're probably also old enough to help with their laundry and be doing all of their own within a couple of years. We had a daily chore list and I asked them to do the chores first, not homework, because one day they will no longer have homework but will always (hopefully!!) have a home to take care of and maintain. The 15 minutes or so it took to sweep and vacuum (or whatever) did not prevent them from having enough time for homework or sports although there were occasional exceptions - like when all 3 had a soccer game in 3 different cities on the same day. It also helps them learn about effectively managing their time.
Just a suggestion!
