When you were growing up, did your family coupon?

I don't remember seeing my mom use coupons. Before I had my son, I would never be caught using a coupon. Or going into a dollar store. I started using coupons a few years ago. A few at first, then a few more. Now, I always have my binder with me. My mom is always amazed when she sees me unloading my van full of groceries. The first thing she asks is how much I saved. One week I had filled my van full of groceries for only $26 and she had to sit down. I bet she wishes that she had used coupons for all those years. We didn't have a lot of money when I was growing up. We lived in a small town (it has recently been downgraded to a village, it is that small) there weren't a lot of options of where to shop. It was a get what we needed and nothing more thing with us.

Mom purchased basic ingredients, things that typically didn't have coupons. I remember frequently complaining that there was never food in the house because one would have to MAKE the food. She also worked full time and had ungrateful children that didn't do anything around the house to help her...so she didn't have too much time to coupon.

I don't remember my mom using coupons when I was a child, but she uses them now!

My mom hears my savings and is getting into the coupon thing! Before growing up she would clip em and forget em. But man if she saw my house she would be pickin up papers left and right now! I started out small and now yeah im addicted to couponing! lol. I hope my kids pick it up. My son was lugging around my coupon binder today. Hes like its my ship full of coupons! lol. I wish my mom did coupons. she woulda saved sooo much money! We were stretched growing up and my dad was in the military and worked part time at pizza hut! Hes retired air force but still has to work and my mom works full time as well . A little work but it totally pays off in the end.
