The Rival one ($16.99) is way too small. It is only a 2 quart. I can't imagine being able to cook anything in it for a whole family. The other one is 4 quart. That would be better than the 2 quart. The 4 quart does have a removable insert. If I had to choose between the 2 of them, I would go with the Procter-Silex one. It is pricier than other stores though. But I see what you mean about having the ecbs. For a family of four, you will eventually want something bigger once you get the hang of cooking in it. I also suggest getting some good slow cooker cookbooks.

Good luck and hopefully this helps.

Well, if push comes to shove, buy products with your ECB's flat out and then return them for store credit. That way you can preserve their value (check first with management by asking if you buy something with an ECB and need to return it how they handle it) for use on items you do truly want and aren't overpaying for it just to use ECBs.

    It would be worth asking!

i did that 10 times already
and the SM said they r not supposed to do that 9which is not true)
i shop @ CVS alot and use many qs and make a lot of money but when it comes to spending it is just hard to find some worthy item
my store has only the small crock pot but if i can get them order the larger one (procto Silex) I will buy it. After reading ur posts, i think it is worth to have one even just for yogurt or lasagna! i am looking forward to try these.

    Thanks everyone
ps.I am sorry i cannot rep anyone anymore I repped too much

so when I try to use

Yep! This was what I was gonna say. Crockpots are awesome in the summer, to just use it for things you might put in an oven in cooler weather. I have a 3 ring binder I made for crock pot recipes from the internet, too. I even have a few recipes for some unusual crock pot fixins like bread, brownies, banana bread, cake, and even hot cocoa.

Yup, all my greatest recipes for the crockpot came from the internet over several years. I even made a binder for my Mom back in the mid 90's, which included several recipes for wild game because I found so many good ones for venison, rabbit, pheasant etc. My Dad was a hunter

Really the most used appliance in my kitchen, year round!
