PREGGO Taking pregnancy tests when you don't have a period at all.

Need some advice. DH and I recently decided to try for baby #3. The pill that i've been on since DD2 left me with no period. Even though i'm not taking the pill any longer, my period still has'nt returned.

I'm tracking dates and if we're successful, I want to know asap. Question is, how often would you suggest I take a test if there is no period to miss?

    TIA for any tips, suggestions.

Given the high level of sensitivity some of the tests have, they can pick up very early if you're pregnant. I would venture to say if you did it once a week for a couple weeks (3 max), it would pick up if you're pregnant or not.

Don't some of those test state that even if you're a mere 3 days late they will detect a pregnancy?

It's been so long for me using those I wouldn't know for sure anymore

    Congratulations on your new endeavor!

I know the tests I sell can detect the pregnancy hormone as early as 6 to 15 days after conception. So based on that once you start tryingge to conceive, just add two weeks and then test every week or so thereafter.

Another thing you might consider is testing to see when/if you ovulate. That would give you a much better idea of when you might become pregnant. But it would be more expensive because you test every day. Still, at only 50-85 cents a test (if you get them from us) it's not that big of an expense. And it's just as easy as testing for pregnancy.

Definitely get your tests online. There are lots of good sites to get them. I invite you to check my site out but there are others as well. It's sooooooooooooo much cheaper than at the drugstore even with coupons! And they are every bit as good. Same kind as obstetrician's offices use.

    Hope you are successful!

You should make a Dr. appointment to find out why you are not having a period first and foremost. I would hate for you to spend all this time, money and energy trying to get pregnant and find out later that something is up and it was all a waste.

There are at home things you can do to chart for ovulation if you don't want to spend the money on ovulation tests. You can check cervical mucus or do temperature charting. I would check out the fertility friend website, they have tons of info there. I am kinda in the same boat. My periods are really wonky since I am still nursing my first but we're trying to have another. Hope I helped atleast a little!

The pill i was for the past 3 years is one that my doctor said could easily "erase" my cycle all together. IF i happen to have a period, it's very light and last only a couple of days. I don't even call it a period. Spotting is more like it.

I have'nt been off the pill very long and doc. said the cycle may not come back immediately. It may sound odd but I'm not going the ovulation testing route. I mean, I'm in a "leave it in God's hands" state of mind and giving it til my birthday in Aug. If it happens, it was meant to be, if not, we've got two gorgeous daughters that complete us already.

I'm trying to figure out how often I can take a pregnancy test without pouring money down the drain for no reason. If i can get an accurate reading, say, weekly, i'm all for it. I'll call my doctor and see what time table she recommends.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

    Good luck to you Elizabeth!

Thanks, and good luck to you too! We are pretty much going the "if it happens it happens" route, too. I mean I am really hoping I get pregnant soon but ovulation tests get so expensive so I am just trying to pay better attention to my body. You can get tests at the dollar store, too. EPT and clearblue would really add up- even with coupons!

I know a lot of women who go the pregnancy test route, you can get them a lot cheaper at dollar stores or discount stores. They might not predict quite as early but if you are doing one or two a week the savings will really add up!

As long as you are not a drinker or smoker, why worry about testing much at all.
If you start putting on a few pounds, take a test and you might be pleasantly suprised
(Sorry, just don't want you to stress over the whole affair, I was a charter and drove myself MAD wondering am I pregnant, am I not, I think I lost half my hair during that 6 months)

Good luck btw and you gotta get me some of those pills. NO period would be better then the lovely gift of heavy flow my dd2 left me with:sad:
