HELP If you teach a coupon class.. HELP ME!

Ok, I guess this is the best place to put this...

I have several people interested in taking a coupon class from me.

    Where do I start??

    If you teach:

Do you charge for the class? How much?

Do they bring their own insert, or do you provide them?

    How did you get started?

    What do you teach?

Do you have a "lesson plan" so to speak?

How long are the classes and how many are offered?

    Where do you teach?

I want to help these ladies out.. but there is sooo much information, I dont want to overwhelm them..

    HELP ME!

I taught a coupon class in my small town. Yes I did have a 'lesson plan'. I just broke up the stores I go to into categories and wrote down all the important ideas for each store. I also wrote down websites I visit that can help each person. I also had a page for abbreviations.
I taught the coupon class at our Elementary school through the PTO (parent organization). I was paid $50 in gas cards, I thought that was GREAT! I did not give them a set amount they just did that on their own. But, I would recommend making some money off the class you are willing to teach. I would charge a fee for each person, just a thought though.
I also had access to a smartboard so the ladies could see the sites I visit and see how I came up with my scenarios. That was a big help! I also brought a lot of the stuff I received free and raffled it off throughout the class. Then I had a basket at the end. I was surprised how many people showed up......so be prepared Good luck!

    Thanks for your imput!

I have a laptop and projector, so they can see my screen, CHECK!

I read on another site she charges 20 bucks for her class, and its 4 sessions long. You bring your own coupons, and she gives you a calculator and a small coupon holder for your purse.

    Ill keep working on it..

Anyone else have anything to add?

    If you teach:

Do you charge for the class? How much?
I volunteer my time at local public libraries. Someone just contacted me about a paying gig at her home for her friends. I'm working on that now.

Do they bring their own insert, or do you provide them?
We don't do any coupons there, but the library gives them a handout that I provided to the library - it's a copy of the slides of the power point I use

    How did you get started?

    People asked!

    What do you teach?

Do you have a "lesson plan" so to speak?

I created a power point presentation, I start with "myth vs. facts" about couponing, I talk about the lingo, then I target specific stores - ShopRite, Acme, CVS. I tell a bit about each store, then show some deals for the week. I also talk about catalina deals. I tell them about couponing sites, how to obtain coupons and stockpiling

How long are the classes and how many are offered?

I do 1 class that lasts about 1 hour 15 minutes

    Where do you teach?

    Local libraries

I want to help these ladies out.. but there is sooo much information, I dont want to overwhelm them..

Do you charge for the class? How much?
Yes, I charge each person $25. Certainly if you take a class through Parks & Rec or from any expert this would be considered an inexpensive price. For learning couponing, we ARE experts. So I consider this a fair price.

Do they bring their own insert, or do you provide them?
I bring inserts for them. I make sure each person leaves with at least $25 in coupons.

    How did you get started?
I just wrote an email to my local yahoogroup and asked if anyone would like to take a coupon class. Plus I told them how much I save every week. After that first class, I signed up with BeCentsAble. They have a great curriculum as well as website for supporting my students.

    What do you teach?
I teach the basics. Buying according to sales cycles and stockpiling. Store vs manufacturer's coupons. Stacking coupons, stacking deals. Basics of Rite Aid, Walgreens and CVS. How to find the deals. How to organize and find coupons.

Do you have a "lesson plan" so to speak?
Yes, I use the curriculum Powerpoint provided through BeCentsAble.

How long are the classes and how many are offered?
My classes typically last about two hours including questions at the end. So far I haven't done an advanced class but would like to start. There's so much to teach but it's overwhelming to learn it all at once.

    Where do you teach?
Mostly I teach in people's homes. The host does the inviting and gets to attend for free. I'm thinking about contacting the local Parks & Rec about teaching through their classes.
