Default Why do kids have to grow up?

I wish they could stay little and sweet forever...it honestly makes me cry to think of how quickly they're growing up, and too soon they'll leave me. It's not fair, I want to keep them as babies

My little girl is the sweetest of all - she always shares her love with hugs and kisses - but my 6 yo son is already starting to outgrow that!

I know! You reminded me of story....When my sister and I were going through our "we our too cool to kiss our mother in public" phase, my brother who was younger told my mom "Don't worry, mama, I will always kiss you goodbye". He kept true to his word - all the way through high school and even today he kisses my mom when he sees her.

My son who is 4 still gives me a ton of affection - I will so miss that when it goes away (and of course, secretly wish that it won't). He said to me recently "mama, get ready - I am going to give you the kiss of true love" and then kissed me with a boyish intensity that was amazingly endearing. So that's it - when the affection starts to diminish, I am going to remember that I got the first kiss of true love.

That's so sweet - made me tear up again! I'm very emotional the past couple of days! (and no, I'm not pregnant lol)

It's weird for the kids, too, though. Just think about what happens when they get into the teen years. I'm young and I still find it strange because sometimes I feel like I'm straddling childhood and adulthood. I just turned 19 a few weeks ago and while I definitely am not a child anymore, and I'm legally an adult, there are so many things I have no clue about. And then there are other things that I feel like I am mature about. Life is strange like that!

    Are you sure?!?

But I deffiently know the feeling. Although my 5yo is still more affectionate than my 2yo. I look at them and go 'Wow, when did that happen'. Every day is a new adventure and I keep telling myself, even though they are growing up, to me they will always be my babies!

And stop listending to the telethon on the radio, you seem to have enough emotion without that!

i agree the young sweet stage don't last long..then into the teens and i may just be a bad mom but i just could not wait till they were old enough to get out and be on their own... i dont miss having kids at home! we have 15 grand kids , i dont mind a vist for a weekend by one or two but not more than that and definately not all the time! so i guess i am a bad grandma too! really i love them all.. i am not a person with a lot of patience though..

Awe you need to read "Love you Forever" by Robert Munsch it makes me cry every time. I sing that song to my boys every night (8 & 9)
My response to those who ask why do you coupon.
"I can spend my money on toilet paper and deoderant or I can use coupons for that stuff and save my money for a new Burberry. I think I would rather have a cute bag "

Try having a 16 and a 13yr old....They don't want to kiss you for anything!!

They are too grown up for that!

My 11 yo still kisses and hugs me (but only when no friends are looking). He hasn't started the tween stuff yet, so to me is still my adorable little boy (even though he is almost as tall as I am). I still hold his hand crossing the street - just a protective mom thing - won't give that up until he makes me. Won't be much longer, I'm sure.
