I was the most uninvolved bride when it came to my wedding. I didn't stress out at anything. It didn't even matter to me. Somehow we got we had a hall, some food, drinks, and music. I didn't even pick out my own cake. I let my FIL do that.
For me a marriage is about the relationship after the wedding day not the reception.

Thanks! He is the man of my dreams my heart melts every time he is arouns and I have 3 kids by my ex-husband as well to whom I was married to for 10 years. I guess I just thought it would be different this time. I am thinking maybe renting a hall and having the wedding and reception all in one place, no DJ just someone who can play CD's (he has lot's of friends) and a limo to the bar where we met. This probably seems odd, however a big part of us together is this dance club. He has been going there about 8 years, we know EVERYONE there and even have talked to the owner about reserving the pool table where we meet for a second reception. This is VERY important to me, I think this is my biggest thing I want. So maybe $1500.00 we could do about everything I want......

Maybe see if you can rent the bar before opening time for a quick little ceremony then party at the bar all night long

I was thinking the same thing. I went to a wedding like this and it was GREAT! Everyone had so much fun. If you know the owner you can get some special perks too...hire the DJ and control the music all night, etc. It could be a lot of fun!

we did our wedding for under $3500 ..that includes the dress for $800...the reception food was about half the rest....i used coupons at michaels to get my invitations and then did my own on the computer, decorations were purchased with coupons (tea lights were purchased at big lots on the cheap), decorations were pine limb pieces cut in varying sizes to put small candles on them for the center pieces...cake was a gift from friends...we had it all at one ...guests came in and sat down in the reception hall and we walked in and had a little ceremony...did a few pictures before the lights went out (yup power outage)...and then every one ate....
i had huge cheese and fruit trays put out after we said our i do's for people to eat....

it CAN be done on the cheap and still be an awesome wedding....i still get comments 3 years later how everyone loved our wedding....
