Okay...so let me get this straight. They put real sugar in the Mountain Dew???? Like I must try it.
Me and DH are addicts over here...him more than me...but my 7 year old has been told she can't drink it till she's 30 LOL...and still belives me.
DH and I used to drink lots and lots of (diet) soda. One way I found to cut back for us is to only buy the two liters. It was so easy to grab a can and open and now we actually have to get a glass and put ice in and pour. It takes much more effort so we have cut our soda consumption at least in half. What is unusual is that my 11 yo DS can't stand soda - I hope it stays that way.

I REFUSE to touch throwback soda's. I accidently got a Mt dew a few months back or so and I swear it gave me the worse headache ever. ( I truly don't think it was real sugar).. I think it's artificial sweetner that they can some how call sugar.
I say this cause I get sick with bad headaches from artificial sweeteners and the mt dew did just that. I can consume sugar with no issues.
Surprise surprise..
Baby on board!
I just gave up drinking soda for a 70 week fasting for spiritual reasons right before they came out with the throwbacks. I really would like to try them lol.
Anyway, I drank diet coke for years. As soon as I gave it up, I dropped 5 pounds in under two weeks. I didn't change my diet or exercise, In fact, since it was holiday season, I probably ate a bit more calories. I also increased my coffee for first couple weeks to help with the headaches. I thought it quite amazing considering that diet coke has no calories. I discovered that the aspartame triggers my sweet tooth big time. I don't have this side effect w/Splenda which I use in my coffee at home but if I am out and the place doesn't have Splenda and I use Equal then I'm looking for sweets.
I tell mine almost the exact same thing!
I say its an adult beverage and when your an adult you can decide if you want it or not.
Id like to just cut it out completely and if he never sees it hes less likely to want it.
But really I treat it just like someone who drinks beer or wine would its not for kids and he doesnt get any.

Hey! I have been scourinjg the net this morning as to why the this product gives me a terrible headache, I read your reply to the "throwback" soda forum discussion- THANK GOD I ran into your message because I was starting to think I was going crazy.
I drank a Pepsi "Throwback" bottle a few weeks ago for the first time, and I acquired horrid headache a few mins later that last the entire day. It was the same exact headache I get when I drink anything with artificial sweetener in it (well, really anything that has ANYTHING artificial in it these days, food or beverages. My "trigger" foods numbers in the hundreds, basically I live on any food from Dunkin Doughnuts, cereals, baked beans and oreo cookies.)
If I consume anything with preservitives, MSG, artif. sweetener, etc. etc. I get the worst headache and usually end up so sick I throw up.. it is terrible but I have chalked to it up my body is telling me HEY IDIOT stop putting that in yourself *lol*
Anyway, I tried the Throwback Dew yesterday and the same thing happened again. Plus, it TASTES like diet pop (esp the aftertaste YUCK). Needless to say I am ticked off, they obviously are "loosely" using the word "sugar" -- it perhaps is "sugar" but it is tampered with somehow. Just started investigating on the net a few hours ago... if anyone finds anything out please reply to thread. I am really, really interested in what is really going on here with this soda. ~ Courtney![]()
You havea good theory on this whole thing.
I have tried the throwback pops and I have to tell you, I dont remember the pop from my childhood tasting that way. It was awful. I can drink a half of a 12 pack daily of my dr pepper and when I tasted the throwback, I too, almost spit it back out. It was just awful!!
I told the Pepsi distributor who always comes to my local grocery store and he always calls me Pepsis #1 customer, that if they go to all throwback styles... I will be leaving them! He said he would pass it on!
