Default I Have a Confession To Make

I got a bunch of Morningstar Farms products really cheap with coupons. I have been feeding them to my family but not mentioning that they are vegetarian products. They have been happily eating them with no complaints, even my meat loving husband. My DS even said the other day (as we were eating the "chicken" patties), "I love meat together with vegetables." I'm afraid that if I tell them that they all of a sudden won't like them.

My husband, the bloodthirsty meat lover he is, actually really likes the fake burgers and meat substitutes like tvp. I mean, it's not his preference, but if it ends up in some chili or soup, he likes it just fine. I can do just fine without "meaty" meals and don't really need meat substitutes when I'm not eating meat. Not him. It was a pretty good compromise.

    I did the same thing!!!
So far, only with the crumbles. DD went shopping for me when she was home for Christmas and got them on sale at Target.
After she left I made a casserole and chili and didn't tell!!!
DH said the casserole was one of the best I've made. (It is a family fav and I just subbed the crumbles for ground beef.)
I'm excited because the crumbles worked out to less than a dollar a bag!!!
    Yayy for secrets!

That's funny. I wish my husband would let something slide like that! Not only does the man like his meat 'real', he likes certain kinds of meat. Must not be frozen steaks (BOOO!), had rather not have frozen ground beef for hamburgers, and heaven forbid I use super lean ground beef for the hamburgers.

There's NO WAY I could get this man to eat tvp happily.

Here's a funny one though...he eats turkey sausage every morning with his eggs for breakfast. So the other day he tells me he likes this certain brand better than the others because they have a plastic wrapper inside the box and others do not.

Just so long as the parties involved do no have food allergies or irritants... But I wouldn't feel comfortable serving one thing under the pretense of it being something else.
