I think you ought to keep your secret just that;; a secret. There's no reason to "break the spell."
I wouldn't tell them.
Like a previous poster I got some of those crumbles and made enchiladas with them. DH went nuts over them saying how great they were. We had previously bud the 'hamburgers' and he complained cause they weren't real meat. When I told DH that the enchiladas were made with the fake meat all of a sudden his tune changed from 'best enchiladas ever, you should make those all the time' to 'I thought those tasted a bit off' and he wouldn't eat any more of them.

The queen of April Fools was here.
Thats great. My 5yo DS likes the nuggets. He's too young to know the difference anyway though.
I recently learned that my mother, when i was little, would do thngs like this to get my dad, brother and me eating healthier. Some of it worked, others not so much. Like when she filled up a 2L pepsi with "diet". Add the fact that it got flat from dumping it into the new 2L bottle, that didn't fly -LOL. But she did get away with 1/2% milk in the VitD jug and stuff like that.
As a vegetarian, it is nice to see others realize that my diet is not only healthy but quite delicious. My favorite is the riblet. Yummy!
My family would always spot fake meat over the real one. DH would eat it only if he must, with proper condiments, DD likes to take Morning Star original burgers to school.
I'm not a big fan of fake meats, the only one I'll eat is ground "beef" from LiteLife, good for making tacos. Much healthier then reg. ground meat too.
Might tolerate chik strips in stir fry, but no way it can be confused with real chicken.
Plastic wrapper inside the box might make the difference in taste because of possible freezer burn.
Optimism is a lack of information.
My family would notice right away. LOL!!! It's not that they're picky, because they're not. But, if I was eating it...they'd know it was fake meat!! With my allergy, that's the only "meat" I can eat. So, I'd never get away with hiding it! LOL!
I say good for you! I made chili once with them and my picky brother loved it! I never told him it wasn't meat.
I used turkey sausage instead of pork (I don't eat pork, plus it's a lot healthier) in my sausage balls at the family Christmas two years ago. DH's grandfather was chowing down on them until he found out it was turkey then he wouldn't eat another one - he swears anything remotely "healthy" tastes bad. He won't even eat grilled, marinated chicken breasts - too "healthy" and "low fat" for him!

I would definitely not tell them. There have been several times that my husband has liked something healthy, like when I gave him frozen yogurt and he thought it was ice cream. And he would love it, and when I told him what it really was, he stopped eating it or said it had a weird taste.![]()
