The History of Coupons ???
Hi Everyone!
I have been wanting to make this post for a while now. I have been couponing for a year now, and am a loyal HCW member.
I knew absolutely NO ONE who couponed before I began last year. I thought I was doing something new and unknown.
However, since my start, I still only know one person (in my "real" life) that uses coupons regularly.
Within the last month or so, I have seen several posts where members have mentioned couponing becoming harder for various reasons. Some reasons I've seen are straight forward, like, deals just not being there like they have in the past. Also, posts that say it seems there are many more people couponing these days, which can have an effect on how many people are getting the deals.
I would really like to know from those of you have been couponing for many years.....(who's been couponing for 5, 10, 15, 20+ years???)
How has couponing specifically changed??
When did stores like WAGS and CVS begin their RR and ECB programs? Have those changed? Did they have different incentive programs before?
Do stores and cashiers view you, the couponer, differently than they did, say, 10 years ago? I mean, do they treat you differently than years ago?
Also, because I love stories and history -- please share amazing deals that you got years ago, that you believe you cannot get today. Or DO you get deals today just as you did years ago?
Please feel free to be store specific....for example, if you have a local grocery or drug store that you've shopped at for years, and have seen major changes (good, bad, or just changes....) over the years.
I hope this is a fun thread for everyone to post and read. Please share what you can if you have a little time.
THANKS!!
