Good thoughts and prayers coming Deb's way. Our family moved 3x in 12 months from 2004-2005 and a lot of our stuff just magically disappeared during each move. After the fact, we found out about several large moving company scams (our moving company was on the list) that had occurred/were still occuring during the same time frame that we had moved. If we had known about the scams, we would have taken more care to write down everything that we had them move. Since we didn't keep a list of the smaller things that disappeared, we couldn't prove what was stolen from us. I hope and pray that this is not the case for Deb and that she fairs better and gets her stuff back. Better late than never.

The mover was hired as a contractor through the moving company, so I guess the truck and trailer is his....

Just got off the phone with Deb, the moving company finally got the guy to deliver Deb's stuff to them at their office, another head mover is going to do a thorough inventory get some sleep and it should be headed up to VA tomorrow and delivered sometime on Friday. The power of prayer works! Now we just pray that everything is still there and in OK condition.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support and the PM's with offers to send Deb a card, coupons or box of stockpile stuff. The HCW community is wonderful!

Yay! I'm so glad to hear this. She must be so relieved. Well, will be when it's all actually there, but still relieved just to have an update that it actually hasn't all just disappeared off the face of the earth.

I finally got delivery on Friday of my belongings & I just got internet service today.

To make a long story short this driver was a problem from the start & it got worse as time progressed. After we threatened a law suit & to report our items to the authorities as stolen against both companies & him personally he decided to take our items to the home office. The driver believe it or not actually drove form Florida to 8 miles inside the Virginia State line, turned around & took my stuff back to Florida where he held it God only knows where for 6 days. :shrug7:


They were reloaded by another driver & delivered. There are damages of various sorts & degrees & as of this time it appears that items are missing. We still have a few boxes to sort through but not enough to cover what is missing & of course it is some of the $ Value items. :sad: It was 2 major companies that work together. Here are some examples:
United / Mayflower, Sorensen / Allied, etc. He is actually an employee & owns the rig & trailer it is not owed by either of the companies.

I felt like I was having a nightmare & couldn't wake up I was really numb. I held up pretty well until I spoke with Heidi the 1st time. By this time the stress had gotten to be so bad I lost it, broke down & cried until I couldn't cry anymore. I had 3 changes of clothes; no coat or sweater, 1 pair of tennis shoes & very little else. Didn't take much with me as I was expecting my belongings in a few days.

To make matters worse I spent several hours in the ER today as I messed up my left wrist pretty badly. We thought is was broken but thank God it wasn't. So now I can't lift, unpack, etc. I tell ya this has been the move from you know where.

Once again thanks everyone ~ you are the best!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Talk about poor customer service and how does this guy sleep at night. I hope everything is there and that now you can get everything back to order. I just can't imagine living without the everyday things we cherish.

I hope the rest of your stuff finds its way to you. What a jerk. That guy gives truck drivers/movers a bad name! Do you have any legal recourse for the missing items?

I hope your wrist gets better soon.
