My 11 yr old DD tickled my funny bone yesterday...

...so we picked up our 11 yr old DD saturday afternoon from her friends house sleep over. it was just the two of them and the rest of her friends family.

I guess i should first of all tell y'all that we live on a farm and raise many a "aminal" creature And some things as a parent just never cross your mind for one reason or another.

But. a little while after we picked her up i asked her if she had a good time, what they did, what they ate, etc...making conversation ya know. And she answers all my questions and then some, she adds her own too.

Then she tells me how her friends older sister was there with her baby. (i knew some time ago she was expecting). i asked how she liked the baby and she said she did that it was really cute and then she tells me, as she holds her hands about 16-20 inches apart that the baby was THIS big! soooooo tiny she says all excited! then she says "...and its eyes were open!" yes i had to chuckle a little, cover my mouth, and say oh really? i said well honey, it isn't like all the other little "aminal" creatures ya know. they are actually born with their eyes open! she says "...oh", "well, i didn't know that!" I said well i am sorry, i didn't know that you didn't. but don't be mad, its just the cutest thing! i said honey you tickled mamas funny bone like it hasn't been tickled in a loooooooooooooooooooooooonggggggg time! i really needed that, theres no reason to be upset. you didn't know!

she wasn't very happy that i was "laughing" at her & her expense. she never has liked that. but, it was just sooo cute with the expression that she put behind saying it and everything! I am putting that down in her baby book! i hope that y'all enjoyed that as much as her dad, grandma, aunt and myself so far...she'll get even madder if she finds out i told MORE people! LOL but i just can't help it!

That is cute! And she will have to be mad at me bc im gonna have to tell DH! LOL
He is a farm boy and he compares every aspect of humans to dairy cattle.
He made a comment before DS was born about eyes being open/shut and I honestly dont know if he was truly joking or if he really didnt know and was trying to make it a joke LOL sometimes with him its hard to tell :)
But love this story she sounds like a good kid!

LOL and thank you, she is a good kid. its just so funny that she never knew and that i never knew that she didn't know! oh my! it tickles me all over again just thinking about it!

At this point, i guess i could believe that your hubby didn't know either, i mean, i guess it is possible! LOL thats great! I mean look at my 11 yr old! she had never been around a newborn so she didn't know. but then again, they sleep so much when they are first born that i can see how many would think that they aren't open for days to come! LOL but STILL
