I can so relate to this in regards to my father. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. The advice that helped me the most with my dad was...Try and focus on the times that made those "laugh lines" and not the hospital scene. (good times)I know it's hard to do right now. Since you like to write, perhaps writing out your favorite happy & meaningful times with him on paper and then referring to it when the mental pics come up of hospital, would help you be in a happy place when thinking of him. I used videos & pictures of my dad to help me overcome the vent pics in my mind that kept coming around.

I am so so sorry for the loss of your uncle justmeagain and your brother rrpate. You all and your family are in my prayers. I'm so so sorry.

so sorry for your loss! my dad died suddenly in 2007, in 3 days it will be the second anniversary of his passing. he had asthma, emphysema...still smoked a pack a day even on oxygen. we knew he was sick but i guess i figured id get a call he was in the hospital, and be able to see him before he died. that wasnt the case. he had a heart attack in his living room and was found a day later when his gf came home from work.

im not sure if it would have been harder to WATCH him go, or to regret not being able to see him before he died. i hadnt seen him since early 2003.

oddly enough, when i signed onto myspace today, i glanced at the left side where it shows whose birthdays are coming up, and there he was (he would have been 61 nov 19th). kind of threw me off for a minute. i try hard to remember the good times around this time of year.

I'm and so so sorry for your loss.

I actually know exactly what BOOP is. It is Bronchiolitis Obliterans with Organizing Pneumonia... It is a form of Interstitial Lung Disease. Interstitial Lung Disease means the lungs are scarred in various ways and BOOP is a progressive disease. My 3 year old son has a different form of Interstitial Lung disease that only happens to young babies...but he was first thought to have BO...Bronchiolitis Obliterans before they did his CT Scan and realized that was not what it was (they have a different look on the scan).

The lung stuff is just crappy. Literally they can do a lot of things when different organs start to fail...but lungs are just a tough one...and transplants are rarely an option.

Please know we will keep your family in our prayers tonight.
