I think he is fear-mongering just as much as anyone.
Also, anyone who cites (in bold) a CBS "REPORT" shouldn't be taken as scientific or academic.
Please just use common sense. Wash your hands, get a vaccine if you are high risk, and don't get caught up in the fear mongering. |
Thank you for posting that great advice. I definitely advocate a reasonable approach to vaccinations of all kinds.
I will leave my personal perspective for my own children out of it, as it is greatly inflluenced by the work I do. I, unfortunately, am exposed on a daily basis to individuals who are hospitalized with flu as I work with chronically ill kids. In our small system of kids we have had 8 deaths, and over 50 hospitalizations this season (3 currently are in critical condition in the PICU). We also just had a teacher in our area die of complications of swine flu (asthma was her pre-existing condition). If you have a child with a chronic illness, even one that is mild, please educate yourself about the vaccines that are available this season. As parents we all have to make the best decisions we can for our children - this will mean different things to different people - just make sure you are not getting only one side of the story.
