HELP Anyone own a PT Cruiser????Advice please??

Is there anyone out there that owns a PT Cruiser? Do yuo know of anyone that owns one? Are they good reliable cars? I am looking at buying one it is owned by an old lady that can no longer drive and it almost brand new. Do you think it would last a long time?? A good investment?? Any advice would be great! I know NOTHING about cars and mine of course was totaled so I am looking for another. I am thinking about a 2006 Pt Cruiser it has only 3,000 miles on it and is in EXCELLENT condition. They want $8,500 for it what do ya think?????????????

I don't think they are making these any longer, so it may become difficult to get parts for it on down the line. Other than that, I don't buy "new" cars, so am not much help. The most I've ever paid for a vehicle is $2500 for my 1978 Olds that only had 30,000 miles on it when I got it. I just can't see paying that much for a vehicle, but that's just me. My hubby fixes anything (almost) that goes wrong with our vehicles, so there are no mechanic/shop bills here, just parts. That's why we don't do computer cars. lol

old car were definitely SO much easier to fix........now I have to take everything to the shop cuz everything has computer chips in it....

Sorry OP, I don't know anything about the PT. I do someone who has bought them consecutively and really likes the a lot.

Everyone you talk to is going to have a different opinion on cars.. thats just how things are but... I personally own a 2002 PT.. its fully loaded with an automatic sunroof also. I bought it used almost 3 years ago. In the 3 years I have had it, its never been in the shop with any problems and I have only done regular maintenance on it and aside from now needing new brake pads theres nothing wrong with it. I bought it with about 36,000 miles on it and it now has almost 80,000. I love my PT..

but ...

there is 1 issue I have found that seems to be a common problem and its the dashboard. I dont know how make models it affected but mine is one of them but its a cosmetic issue that I'll fix at some point on my own.. but anyway the problem was the way the dashboards were mounted they didnt allow spacing or something... (I dont know all the details exactly, sorry) but what happens is from the forward front center vent it cracks and it cracks the entire dashboard clear across the top. So depending on the model year this could be an issue at some point but it doesnt bother me so much that I dont drive it.

Long story short.. if you like a smaller car and its a good price with low miles... go for it. They are considered a Wagon and wont hurt you on insurance... GL!

If you can offer more details on it I can look up pricing for you on it.. or you can do it yourself..

www.kelleybluebook.com

the more detailed info you put into the generator the better idea you can get on a retail value.. FYI the KBB is what EVERY used car sales lot will base pricing on!

I have owned 2 and love them. I hated the Chrysler dealership but it
has nothing to do with the car. Never had a problem at all with my cars.
