HELP HELP - Making donation kits - Which School Supplies for which grades ??

I am making 3 baskets to be raffled off at our church. The theme I chose was school/office supplies. Since I have sooo much stuff from CVS and Office stores, I have everything needed. I'm just not sure what to put in each set.

I plan to make a High School/Junior High one, Elementary, and maybe a generic office supplies one. ?? I was also thinking maybe I'd do a late elem and a early elem and skip the office one. Not sure??
I need suggestions/guidance though. My kids are going into 2nd and Kindy so I'm not 100% sure which stuff is for which grades yet (too old to recall my own). Plus I want to make them unisex, does purple go both ways? The baskets are pretty good size (and wide enough for binders) so I can pack quite a bit in them.

    Here is everything I have:

    protractors
    compasses
    10ct pencils
    10ct each blue/black/red pens
8ct permanent markers (1 of each color)
    6ct highlighters
    pencil boxes
    manual pencil sharpeners
    1 battery operated pencil sharpener
    5-7" blunt tip scissors
    pencil cap erasers
    tape
    bottle glue
    glue sticks
    wide rule filler paper
wide rule notebooks (spiral and bound)
    composition books
    binders (flex & hard)
folders (pronged, pocketed, plain, paper, poly, transparent)
    rulers (wooden, flex, transparent)
    5x7 notepads
    3x5 notebooks
    post-its
    tot stapler
book covers (is a rainbow striped one ok for boys?)

    So what would you do??

Your best bet would be to get a copy of a school supply list for the grades you are doing them for. The stores usually have them or they can usually be found on the web site for the different schools. Pull up the website for the school district in your area and there are usually links on there, either to the supply lists or the individual schools then they will have the list on the site for the school. But, the higher grades, Jr High & High School usually get the list after school starts from each individual teacher.

Thanks but I don't want them for a specific grade, but kind of general for a range "elementary" - "junior/high school" etc. And I don't want a specific school list because who knows what school these will actually go to. Just because the church is in X district, doesn't mean the person buying it is using it in that district, kwim.

So I'm kinda just looking for a general idea of whats appropriate for "elementary school supplies" ... "high school supplies" etc

For instance - blunt tip scissors are elementary school not high school....and the permanent markers wouldn't be right for the elementary basket. But like I don't know at what age they start using compasses and protractors. Or when do they start using pens...do they use them in later elementary or just high school? things like that

I would do this (based on ds1's supply list. It includes the lists for all grades, and a note that 4th & 5th grade teachers may require additional supplies). He doesn't need a protractor until 5th grade, so I would put that and the compass in the Elem basket, b/c even if they don't need it now, they will need it for hight school. Or if you have 2 of each, put a set in each basket. Pens...red is listed for 4th grade, so I would put a pack in the elem basket and the black/blue in the high school basket.

Elementary: protractors, compasses, 10ct pencils, 6ct highlighters, pencil boxes,
manual pencil sharpeners, pencil cap erasers, bottle glue, glue sticks, 5" blunt tip scissors
wide rule filler paper, wide rule notebooks (spiral and bound), composition books,
folders (pronged, pocketed, plain, paper, poly, transparent), rulers (wooden, flex, transparent), book covers

Jr High/High School: 10ct each blue/black/red pens, 8ct permanent markers (1 of each color), 1 battery operated pencil sharpener, 10ct pencils, pencil cap erasers, 7" blunt tip scissors, tape, binders (flex & hard), folders (pronged, pocketed, plain, paper, poly, transparent), rulers (wooden, flex, transparent), book covers, wide rule filler paper, wide rule notebooks (spiral and bound)

For these...you could always just add 1 or 2 to each basket, or use them for the office supply basket:
    5x7 notepads
    3x5 notebooks
    post-its
    tot stapler

I work in the Elementary grades (1-3) and what they always need more of is Glue sticks and pencils. So, those two items are great for grade school baskets!
