    Default Supermarket or farmstand corn?

Which do you prefer? Why? How much is farmstand corn in your area?

I prefer to get fresh corn at a farmstand, even though it is more expensive. Today, I paid $3.25 for 6 ears of corn. I know it's cheaper at the supermarket but I have never had good luck with supermarket corn, even when they say it's locally grown. I also like knowing that my money is helping to support a local farmer.

There is one "local" farm that has the best corn, Silver Queen. It was more expensive, but worth it at the time. I think it was $4.25/dozen a couple years ago.

This year one farm stand had corn $1/dozen as long as you bought 5 dozen; it was very good too. I'm not sure where it was grown since I didn't go to the stand myself. It may have been shipped in to the stand.

Now a few of the stores around here do buy corn directly from a well known local farm when it is in season and often the price is higher than the stand. All and all I do prefer the stands as the corn seems to be freshly pick, but I will buy it from the store if it is a good sale and for the convenience.

All I have to say is" I'm an Iowa girl, ya gotta buy it from the farmer". Yes
