CHAT Mrs Olson's Mercantile would charge you how much for this???

I have been thinking about just how much I saved on the Kroger Doubles last week (OOP ~$10.00 for $275.00 in groceries), and I can't stop thinking about how much this stuff we all buy really costs if it pays SO MUCH to coupon, rebate and network to get these deals.

How much would anyone pay for a single sized serving of cereal or a bottled water at Mrs. Olson's Mercantile from the Little House on the Prarie Days??? I bet they would laugh themselves silly in the pioneer days for anyone to pay anthing for either...

It can't possibly cost more than a few cents at most for either product - so what does this stuff really cost? How could the CEOs make millions if we weren't being taken for a ride on all this stuff?

Recently I was charged $175.00 in the emergency room for ONE pill of AmoxClav (an antibiotic). Someone I know from Kashmere/Pakistan said they could get an entire bottle for the price of one US dollar!

So how did things get to the point where Starbucks became a $4-5 a pop staple in our lives? Any thoughts???

I was just chuckling at the thought of Mrs. Olson's carrying bottled water ;)

Okay, you can smack me now!

Most of the stuff we buy they wouldn't have carried, lol. I miss little house on the prairie.

Where did the good ol days go ? We can still find penny candy here though at a local drug store.

I remember a few years back they had an episode of Oprah, showing how much stuff costs - almost everything they had was literally like a penny on the dollar - like .12 to make a bottle of aspirin.
