Swine Flu Vaccine - Will you get it?

From what I can tell there will be 2 flu shots this year.

1st - The normal flu shot.
2nd - the Swine Flu shot.

Will you get the Swine Flu shot?
(This is assuming that have enough to go around. And you have the money for it. And your not allergic to shots.)

I personally, at this moment, will not. I need to see how the 'guinea pigs' do. But, I will get the flu shot.

And are you worried about it?

I will not be getting either shot. Rarely get the flu, and have NEVER had the shot for it, and no thank you on the Swine Flu shot as well!

I've never received the flu vaccine before. I've had the flu once in my life.

That being said, I will get both vaccines this year. I work in healthcare plus I've moved to a more metro area with harsh winters. I can't risk it. My youngest daughter will get both vaccines, too.

I don't know. I think I'll wait till late in the season and then I might get the swine flu vaccine if it looks like things are going to be as bad as they think they are. I really really hate flu vaccines and I've never had one. My aunt is blind because of one, so that's my biggest reason to stay away from them. On the other hand my dad, who also works in healthcare (CFO - so no patient contact) gets one every year.

This is the first year that it's a little tougher to call. I didn't get one when I was pregnant even though my obgyn was pushing it. I laughed at him and told him I'd take it under advisement and he rolled his eyes at me. LOL

My whole family will be steering clear of the swine flu vaccine as the last time they were administered it nearly killed my husband

I work in healthcare and we have been getting regular updates from Argentina, where the swine flu appears to be in full swing. They are reporting a 200% increase in their ER visits and a 40% call in rate to employers. This seems exceptionally high to me - but it is the information being released to us through our infection control specialists. I will be getting both vaccines (I get flu every year). I work with medically compromised kids, and as such I try to take very good care of my health. I also vaccinate my kids and DH.

Being on 'the frontlines' (as my employer puts it) as an ER admitting clerk I will be getting both. With the fact that I see the patient before any tests or assessments are made to know what they may be sick with I take as many precautions as possible for myself and so I don't bring anything home to DD.

We will not be getting either, I would not trust a vaccine that has had such a short development phase and that will contain thimeorsal. We'll make sure to get enough vitamins D and C and hope for the best.

We won't get either. My husband and I only ever got the flu vaccine when we were on active duty and it was required. My son has never gotten the flu vaccine and never will. We will just take extra vitamin c and I stay home with our son anyways so we can avoid a lot of public spaces if the outbreak is like they are assuming it might be. I am not very trusting right now of this whole thing, government healthcare bill, epidemic of swine flu, we need gov't healthcare NOW...I don't think so, but that is just me.

I won't get any of those vaccines because I got the regular flu shot one time and got the flu 2 x's from it. One time I got it for 2 weeks and then a month later 2 weeks again. No thanks...my chances of getting the flu without the vaccine are slimmer. I am praying that my family doesn't get sick. That is my best policy.
