Does this make anyone question why they are pushing the vaccine so hard and why other countries have downgraded the pandemic yet the gov't here is calling it a "National Emergency"?

I personally think everyone should decide for themselves whether to get vaccinated or not.
I don't see where anyone other than hospital workers and maybe military ever are forced to get the shots...(and hospital workers, docs, nurses ect...in high risk groups are always required to get certain shots..h1n1 is not any different). The government is not making any of us get our shots.

When a third of my daughters classmates in her school are out with Flu like symtoms all at the same time and 3 of them are confirmed h1n1....nah I think they have it about right here. And yes...some doctors are still testing for it...and you can bet your butt if you land inpatient in the hospital....they'll test you for it.

Even regular influenza doesn't spread like this...it completely inuddates the doctor offices and hospitals and schools have to close when they get too many kids sick or too many staff sick at once.

My child is on oxygen...has lung damage..it's a no brainer for us...he and the rest of the family must get the shot. Now if I had a child that had neuro reactions to any shots...I would not do them, for that child.

My kids have already had there first h1n1 shot....they didn't even get a fever from it. My sisters and I got it too...and we're fine.

I've had to pull my 7 year old from school...and will have to continue until we can get her the booster shot. It's that important that my son doesn't get this.

I had just last week 4 internet friends whose children were inpatient with h1n1...and 2 of them....are going on week 2 of being in the ICU inpatient. It is not an innocent Flu for everyone.

I will not be getting the shot, nor will my children. But she's right, this is not an innocent flu for everyone. A child in my class got it (all the kids in the family ended up with it) and they were miserable for a few days but no big deal. However, the media pastor at a friend of mine's church (just 2 hours away) got it and died within a week. He was just 37. It went into double pneumonia and caused heart failure. It's not all hype, but you do have to make the best decision for you and your family. That's not the same decision for everyone.

I want to get it for myself and my daughter, but it is not available where we are in PA. We haven't even gotten to seasonal flu vaccine in my area. The health officials in my area are saying mid to late November. It just hope we don't catch the flu before then.

I'm still so on the fence about this. I got the seasonal flu shot (against my better judgement) b/c I have an infant, and I ended up getting a fever and feeling horrible for about 3 days after getting the shot. God knows what the swine flu vaccine would do to me. At the same time, I'm deathly afraid of bringing a virus home to my Caroline. DH and I have just been watching her like a hawk to make sure she's not showing any symptoms of flu.

You reaction to the flu shot sounds about normal, I get one every year and react the same way every year. I really think it's worth it though. I'm glad you decided to go ahead and get it. Less sickness for you to pass to your gorgeous little baby!!!

I keep hearing "front lines"

I have 2 friends that are nurses, 1 is an ER nurse and works the overnight shift. They are both at different hospitals. The er nurse doesn't have to get the shot, it's not mandatory and she's not getting it. My other friend it was mandatory she get it at her hospital.... so I'm guessing it's per hospital and not just b/c you are a nurse/dr etc....

Oh, and I'm not getting it but hearing about people dying from it scares me every day!

BTW ZM, does your pedi give you crap for not getting it since he basically kicked me out of his practice for wanting to be on a delayed vaccine schedule

after you got the shot where you around someone sick? maybe you where in line at the store behind someone sick....if you were the shot dose make it easier for you to pick that cold up from someonen, and then we blame the shot for making us sick..

I get the reglur flu shot every year and so do my kids because if we dont we all wind up with the flu and it hits me hard becasue I have breathing problems anyway..

and yes my kids have already got the swine flu shot and I will to as soon as they will give it to me.. I cant take the nose spray because of heath problems

Anyone with egg allergy who cannot take the H1N1 shot? What are you doing about protecting yourself from the swine flu? My younger dd (2 yrs) is egg allergic, so she cannot get the shot:sad: Her pedi said she could take the spray/mist version, but I read that those with egg allergy should not take that either! :shrug7:

Health Depts are holding clinics where the shots are free, so you that dont have insurance or money do like me go to the health dept flu clinic and get your shot, they dont even ask your income..

for you that are going to stay at home, you dont have to leave the house to get the flu..the one person that works or gose to buy your food can bring it into your home with out even knowing they are so its not something you can hide from...
