Should I tip at Sonic??

I always tip at Sonic.

I am a Sonic addict. I usually go almost once every day. I usually tip about a quarter or so, depending on how much change I would receive back. It ends up being about 15%.

I don't go often at all... I HATE the tipping thing at a fast food restaurant. I can see it if you pull up and sit there and do the old time car service thing.... but PULEEEEZ... You order thru a speaker.... it's not a true old fashioned drive in.

If we go it's thru the drive thru and now they don't even do window service...they make you pull up to milk you of a tip. I really hate it. However, my DH would just die if I didn't tip, so IF we go, I tip and bite my tongue.

I have never ever tipped at Sonic and probably never will because I go thru the drive thru and get a half price drink thru during their happy hour.

there's alot of things that go on behind the scenes.

I mean absolutely no offense when I say this, but I bet I do as much "behind the scenes" work at McDonalds as you do/did at Sonic, and I make just above minimum wage. I really dont see what is so special about Sonic that says they should be tipped. I had no idea people tipped the carhops there until i saw this thread!

We tip at Sonic when we eat there and the carhop has to bring out our food. If we go through the drive-thru we do not tip. I also do not tip when going through the drive-thru and they ask me to pull-up. Usually, we tip about a dollar.
