Default couponing helps me live in the moment

Hello, I have been sniffing around this site for several months now and wanted to share how much you all and this lifestyle has helped me stay grounded. Although I have always been aware of saving and the cost of things, I have never taken it to this level and its all because of you!

A short story if I may... My mom passed away this passed August and it was very sudden and one of the most difficult experiences I have ever seen and been through. In fact, the last few years have been filled with many difficulties with family and with life in general. When we are faced with challenges sometimes it is sudden and there is no way to prepare...well at least that is what I used to feel. We cannot prepare for all emotional, physical and stressful situations within our hearts, but we can prepare with our stockpiles!!

When my Mom was sick and called to tell me it was time for me to come home because it was 'time'...I was not only devastated and scared, I had no food or any kind of backup for my family for the crisis. Although my hubby and son's survived just fine, it was still all of those details us Mom's worry about that added to the stress. Well now I have enough stockpiled and would be prepared for any crises or any event...even if its just hubby and I telling our boys that we are leaving for the weekend and they are on their own!...there is plenty of TP, food, drinks and cleaning supplies(not that they would clean anything..LOL!). It is such a comforting feeling to look at my stockpile.

I just wanted to thank you all so much and show my love and appreciation to you!! I can live in the moment and not worry about what to prepare for...thank you, thank you..thank you!!

    your secret admirer...

Caron5...... I enjoyed your post... I lost both my parents almost two years ago ...7 months apart. :sad:It's been a long lonely road traveled since then. My Dad was my ROCK and my Mother was my BEST FRIEND!!! I have my family ,but its not the same. I have found such joy in this site too! I to, have always used coupons but this is where to be for all the up dated info. I have laughed and also cried at some of the post on here. When I am feeling down I get on this site and I always get lifted up and there is always a post to make you laugh. Hope your days are better because I know time will heal. Until then I am just going to spend more time with everyone here and my coupons. I thank everyone here too....some of yall are just to funny at times. Thank you for this site. Thank you Caron5 for giving me the courage to say how I feel. I will keep you and your family in my prayers each day.

Yes, couponing helps me to live in the moment, too. A necessity, a hobby, & a chance to donate all in one.

What a great first post! I hope that you will feel free to come on out and post some more (if not that is OK too, lurckers are always welcome too!)

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I am glad to hear that you are doing OK now. One of the great benifits of having a stockpile, outside of saving lots of money is the assurance that in an emergency, crisis, lay off, or just a down time in life you can go for a time and live off the stockpile. I have done it myself a few times over the years. When I had my twins I took off almost 5 months from shopping other than perishables. And while I do not necessarily stockpile for emergency preparedness (although I do keep water, propane, and the like on hand just incase) I really like the notion that should something major happen we would be OK. Weather that is snowed in durring the winter or something else.

Now how old do the kids need to be before I can leave them alone all weekend! LOL

This was a very good post and I can totally agree. My husband had been looking for a better job for many years but certainly did NOT see him layoff coming at all. It was sudden and shocking. It is more than a HUGE relief knowing at least I can provide food for my DD and by not spending money on food and HBA etc, that does free up other money for bills etc.
Anyways........I'm very sorry to hear about your mom but I do want to warmly welcome you.
