Good luck in this tough market!
My husband (and his ex gf-ugh) owns a nice house in North Florida(Gainesville/Jacksonville area). We moved from there to LA exactly one year ago. The house in FL has been for sale for over 2 years and hasn't budged. We recently had the house repainted, it is about to get new carpet and the price has been dropped ANOTHER $13k. The house is in a great community (nice neighbors, schools, location-lake neighborhood) and is a nice house! Unfortunately, despite our efforts, it hasn't had any serious prospects-thanks to the economy. We are both very tired of having to deal with it. We just found out we are expecting our second child. So financially, we need this house to sell now more than ever. I am asking that you all keep us in your thoughts and prayers and maybe our recent efforts will help to encourage someone to buy this house. Thanks so much for listening!

Update: No...we haven't sold the house... but I talked to the realtor today and she said she has shown the house 3 times in the past week! It was a little comforting to hear that there is some interest. Thanks for any thoughts and prayers. Maybe we will get a bite soon.

Best of luck! Sounds promising if it is getting shown.
UPDATE:
No idea why I just thought of this... but I never came back to update.
We sold the house in October!!! We were able to sell it for an amount that allowed us to break even with what we owed and realtor fees. But no profit. We were both truly happy with it and are glad to have the burden out of our lives. (And even got to claim it as a loss on our taxes- whoo hoo)

Nice story, glad to have the update.
most house that have been on market for 2 months and don't sell..are because price is too high. Good or bad economy...unfornately the relator you listed with hasn't done is job if he/she has left it at that same price for two years,i would leave it at this price for no more than 60 days, if it does not sell, another price reduction is in need. I worked two years in real estate. I wouldn't bother w/ new carpet. Chances are someone else may have different taste and it just gets ripped out. Fresh paint, and makeing sure it is neat and tidy...
