Where to Elope to?

Would love to here stories of those who have eloped - what you did/ where you went/ any suggestions???

LOL, we eloped and were married at our justice of the peace's home. nothing special really.

we're planning on doing a cruise, although we are taking a few people with us.

I didn't really elope, but we did get married by the JP, then 2 months later had the reception for friends & family.
It wasn't anything big at the JP, just DH and I.

We just got back from a trip to the Great Smoky mountains national park. There is a place in the park called Cades Cove... it is gorgeous, and you can get married in there. I recommend it- the beauty of being out in nature and the stunning mountains and wildlife around you, aw gosh had I known about it I would have done it back when!

There is a church out there in Cades Cove- it is simple and beautiful. Look into it- and there are many great luxury cabins in the area. If you need help PM me, i'd be happy to tell you where we stayed .

We eloped. Loved it! County clerk's office in Mendocino County, CA. The we went to Point Arena, CA and stayed at the Wharfmaster. Ocean-view room, big west coast storms, lots of solitude in the room. Nothing ese to do over there, though, but we saw some whales. :)

We were married by a Judge at the court house :giggle: It was great and I wouldn't change a thing.

We eloped at a court house in northern IL. We honeymooned in downtown Chicago for 5 days.

Two years lately we renewed our vows in a religious ceremony for family. I am surprising DH with a cruise for our 10 year anniversary (to make up for the simple honeymoon).

Disney World! No joke! I guess it wasn't truly eloping, but we only invited my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. My parents are divorced and it stressed me out too much to know that they would be in the same room together. We had the best time. The staff at Disney that helped plan our wedding were awesome! It was outside at the Polynesian resort. Oh, and my girls now think it is so cool that we got married there!

We had 2 receptions about a month after our wedding. One thrown by my dad and step-mom and one by my mom and step-dad. Would do it all the same way in a second!

We eloped to the beach in Key West FL, and had a double, (secret) wedding with my brother and his fiance~~!!

My Mom almost died, since we told everyone after it was all done.
We used a company called Chapel by the Sea. We had video, photos, dress, flowers, champagne toast and dinner, just no GUESTS!!

Good luck and I highly recommend it, you save a ton of money.

At my age, there is a greater probability that I'll be struck by lightning than to get married (for real, it's been statistically proven)! That said, I have a good friend who is a judge here. I can just see me and my intended going into her courtroom with some trial going on, slipping a note to the bailiff that I want Jackie to marry us, and her calling a recess for a few moments to marry us. Maybe we'd just go into her chambers and make everyone in the courtroom wonder what the heck she's doing taking a recess. Have to go to the bathroom? Wanted a cup of coffee? Marrying someone? It would be a hoot. I'd choose her because she is an expert in marriage; she's on her 4th husband! Then maybe we'd go to the Waffle House!
