That's wonderful!!! You have every right to be proud of her!
DD (8) has been reading American Girl magazine, which, I have to say, is outstanding.
She came to me last night and asked me to help her think of something she can do to raise money for charity. I was like ??? we already give to church and animal rescue and St Jude, etc...
So she said she read about a girl who did her own fundraising and was able to pay for her brother's uninsured but neede operation.
DD wanted to be able to do something to earn money, and she asked if I thought she could tutor other kids in reading? No, too young right now (although very gifted in reading!)
so ok what about selling her clothes for Samaritan's Purse? MMMmmmm mom doesn't have enough money to replenish what she will sell!
so then she says she could sew for someone, for money...
Ya'll remember those potholders we all used to make with the rag strips? DD wants to make those and sell to folks for $1.50. She will take orders for colors, and all of the proceeds will go to Samaritan's Purse.
I'm not soliciting anyone here and I don't want you to respond that way. I am just so proud of DD for coming up with this totally completely on her own -- and
this morning she asked me if I could PLEASE go get the loom today so she can get started and have a sample to show at church tomorrow night....
I think some folks will pay $1.50 for a potholder and it will do dd good even if she only raises $15 for her charity. She's so excited to be doing something really good for someone else BY HERSELF.
My eight year old DD!!

AWESOME!! I'd say you have some bragging rights. What a great thing for an 8 yr old to do.![]()
Well, I found the loom and the rag loops for it. I didn't know they'd switched to nylon over cotton. We haven't started yet, but hopefully will have enough time to do one by Sunday.
DD is chomping at the bit to get started!
