Got Fired For Working To Hard at the DOLLAR TREE

I got fired from the DOLLAR TREE today for working to hard. I NEVER called in sick, I was NEVER late, I NEVER did not show up. I DID come in to work when others were sick on my day off I DID stay later than my scheduled shift. Even my store manager the one who fired me told me he DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY WORK ETHIC. I was fired for asking for more hours since I had been there the longest.
WHY??? I should have been lazier and called in sick a few times, I guess????
ANYONE live near Blaine, WA and need a hard worker?? HERE I am!! I am so SAD:frown:
I REALLY liked my job and I worked so hard all the time, I put out freight when there was nothing else to do, helped the customers find everything..................

Sounds to me like they needed to lay off some people but didn't want to pay unemployment!!!

So sorry to hear that happened to you!!!!

Wow that's a horrible story. I feel for you, OP and wish you the best. I'm in between Tacoma and Seattle; where's Blaine?

Is this really a reason that she could be denied unemployment?

Asking for more hours is a legal ground for firing employees??
    Never know that.
What did they state as an official reason?

i am very very sorry this happened. i know your frustration. i worked as a manager for Oberwies dairy about 10 years ago. i am a hands on manager. I always pitch in with my crew to get a job done. i dont beleive in sitting doing nothing either on slow nights. this was thier ice cream shops i worked in . so on a slow night we would do some deep cleaning. well i was told it was OK to have THEM, the employees do the work. but it was NOT ok for ME to pitch in. that managers Oberwies did not DO that kind of work. HUH? WHAT? are you kidding me? well they did a spot check on me one night and caught me cleaning the table tops between rushes. the next morning i was fired for doing work not on my job duties list for my position. :shrug7:

OP I am so sorry, what a horrible time for this too. Its sad what some employers do to their employees, especially good ones, and everyone knows that a good employee is hard to come by these days. i hope things work out for you, anyone would be lucky to have a hard working employee like yourself!!

SatiLeigh- they prolly didnt like you doing all the work, cause you made the other managers look bad, so they either had to make you stop doing it, or actually start doing it themselves. I have more respect for a manager that actually works, than one that belts out orders and sits on their bum watching the work be done.

The "at-will termination" clause really boils my blood. It basically means your employer is in the clear as long as he comes up with a better reason than "because you're a woman."

Even though you were fired, it sounds like you're still on good terms with your store manager. I wish I could have been so fortunate.
