Re: Got Fired For Working To Hard at the DOLLAR TREE
My mom worked for them several years ago. My brothers wife died and on the day of the funeral they told her that she was not allowed to take off an go. They told her if she did not come in to work that day she was fired. Well, she did not go to work.

Re: Got Fired For Working To Hard at the DOLLAR TREE
I am so sorry this happened to you. Employment in most cases but can terminated at any time, by either party - with or without cause.
That isn't going to make you feel better, I know it wouldn't make me either. I'm sure this whole thing sucks. It seems the harder some people work, the more they get crapped on. Don't worry, with your work ethic, you should be able to find another job quickly. In the meantime, I would totally file for unemployment.
Good luck!

Re: Got Fired For Working To Hard at the DOLLAR TREE
My son was fired from Dollar Tree also. He was never late.. never called in and always stayed over when they asked him to. They fired him for being 1.80 short on his cash drawer 1 time... then threatened him with prosecution if he didnt pay the 1.80! I was furious!

Re: Got Fired For Working To Hard at the DOLLAR TREE
Whether you get unemployment if fired can depend on whether the unemployment office believes you were fired for cause or believes something unsavory is going on.
My next door neighbor was told he was laid off, along with half the work force of the small company he worked for. Of course they went to unemployment and filled out the paperwork. Each got a call from the unemployment claims saying their employer had said they were let go for failing to come in earlier after repeatedly asked. Not one had ever been asked. By pure happenstance, the neighbor was able to produce a copy of an email he'd sent his boss a couple of weeks earlier asking would he allow them to come in earlier during the summer heat which was just starting up as in previous years because he'd sent it from his home email account and they all got unemployment benefits because of this.
A friend was finally pregnant and doing well after several miscarriages early in her first pregnancies. Her job was mostly a desk job, but once a week she had to lift stacks of files. This job took about 2 hours per week. Her doctor wrote a letter stating she was unable to do this one task. She was immediately terminated. When she tried to explain to unemployment, they told her they were not allowed to discuss her pregnancy at all as a matter of law and denied her for having refused work.
Another friend was pregnant and ordered to bed rest for three days late in her pregnancy. Dollar Tree fired her for absenteeism. Unemployment made noises about forcing them to re-instate her, but finally just gave her six months unemployment benefits as by that time she'd had her son and would have been on maternity leave anyways.
