Default Question on Lego's Price

How much would you think would be a good asking price for over $500.00 worth of Lego's.....I certainly don't want to give them away but I put them on Craig's List for $200.00 and everyone acted like I was asking waaaay to much!!

Just need your thoughts

It's hard to say what they're worth when you say $500 worth without giving any details. I watched Ebay for a long time to find a bulk supply for my children for Christmas this year. I ended up getting 525 duplo bricks and 75 specialty pieces (people, trains, etc.) for a little less than $100, which included shipping.

Are these all jumbled in a bin or do you have the individual sets separated? Just bricks or the more interesting elements as well?

My ds15 buys and sells on bricklink.com, which is set up as individual "stores." There is a thriving secondary market for legos especially sets out of production and hard-to-find minifigs.

Theres a Police set with the Police Boat
Airplane
Airport
All those new castle ones that are new
One of the sets of People
And at least 2 of the Bulk sets
and several trips to the Lego Wall and fill the cup kind of thing
So in reality its not just bulk legos it is the sets and the little cool pieces that go with it.

I think you'd probably have better luck selling that many legos if you separated them into a couple of lots or maybe more. Not many people are willing to pay that much at one time for something even though it's well worth the price. You'd be more likely to get more of your money back from 3 smaller lots rather than 1 large one. Just my thoughts.

I have to agree w/PPs I'd sell in lots as well. I'd also "research" e-bay and Craig's List. People are often willing to spend a bit for those specialty pieces.

I once found a big bucket full of Legos and 20 some base plates @ a yardsale for $10. Many of the pieces were "classic" from the 80's (in awesome condition) and I know the batch is well worth more.
