Yes I would go as far as get stupid, for MY in laws to get that. Our backyard is a hill. LOL......I can't even get my kids a swing set. Our front yard isn't big enough to put anything in/on it. And our side yard is too close the neighbors house. So for my situation I would call them getting stupid. They see our yard. They know.

We had bought a trampoline at a yard sale and the first day we had it by oldest DD sprained her ankle. She was not horsing around on it or anything just jumping and landed wrong. It can happen with anything you do really. But after a few minor injuries like that we got rid of it. Plus it took up too much room in the back yard and you had to move it around to mow the grass.

One set of my in-laws wanted to buy my oldest son his very own computer. Not a kid one, but a real one. He was 18 months....

I have about given up on most of their grandparents. There are 5 sets of them, and NONE of them have any limits.
My dad was trying to talk me into letting him buy DD a PONY. A REAL LIVE PONY. Why? Because she said she wanted one. ME, as her MOTHER, knew that she wanted some My Little Pony toy she saw on tv. Try to tell dad that? Yeah right. I am ALWAYS wrong. He lives a 1000 miles away and somehow understands 3 year old talk and wants sooo much better than me.

I wish my siblings would hurry up and procreate so all these nutty grandparents have something else to focus on.

As a Grandparent I would never purchase such a potentially controversial gift as a trampoline without consulting the parents and giving them time to discuss it. Even if the neighbor has one and my grandchild uses it, it is still up to the parent to decide what is appropriate for their child and their lifestyle. (I can tell you my husband would be crabbing about 'more crap to mow arround' if one showed up in our yard, and also the winter storage requirements.) If I purchase something and DD or SIL decide they don’t want the grandson to have it I hope they either let me know or return it so the $$ is not wasted.

I am so lucky that my kids have reasonable grandparents, and only 2 sets.
I can't be done shopping, I still have coupons left!!!
