HELP Would you move because of allergies?

DD and I moved (with my family) to North Carolina almost exactly a year ago. Since then I have had 2 double ear infections and sinus infections. I am on Singulair, Zyrtec and Nasonex.

DD has had 6+ ear infections, and other respiratory issues. She is also, at 2 years old, on Singulair and Zyrtec.

I read that we are #1 in the nation for allergies. I asked my doctor if it will get better as we adjust, and she said, "No. Welcome to North Carolina." (She said it with a sad smile, I like my doctor.)

I currently am just starting to get over another double ear infection/sinus infection combination. I had to take DD to the doctor, and guess what...on top of the congestion, she has a throat infection. She's sending her to a specialist to see if part of her issue with not eating much in the way of solid foods has to do with any of those types of issues. She already sees an ear doctor, and we know if she gets 1 more infection she gets tubes in her ears.

I'm probably overreacting, but I feel like it would be a mistake to stay here if she has this many allergy problems. (She had ear infections and MINOR allergy issues, mostly congestion, before we moved. But nothing like now.) I hate seeing her miserable. I also question an ulterior motive on my part, because I very much miss my home state (Illinois), and I would love to move back there. But my DD is very, very attached to her grandparents (we live with them), and her father (we are separated, he lives 7 hours away). There's more issues that go along with the possibility of moving, but right now I guess I just wonder if moving would be good or bad, period.

I understand exactly where you are coming from. I didn't have any sinus problems until a little over 3 years ago when I bought my house. I lived in a town just 30 minutes away for 9 years and never had a sinus problem in my life. I didn't even know what a sinus problem was. Since I moved here I have spent countless money trying to feel better. A few months ago I spent 400.00 just trying to feel better. Money I didn't have, but when you hurt that bad you would give anything to feel better. I don't blame you for wanting to move. I want to move so bad, and if a miracle would come then I wouldn't think twice about it. The only problem is, you might pick another place that might trigger a sinus problem. My doctor said sometimes it is the person that suddenly gets sinus problems. The environment makes it worse, but it might happen even if you do move. I was on health food supplements that works sometimes. I have a sinus neti-pot that I have used before. Steam works too. Sudafed is the only medicine that works most of the time for me. I have high blood pressure so I wasn't allowed sudafed but the doctor got it under control. She said I can now take sudafed so if I would have had that during the summer I might not have suffered so much. A good air purifier works great also. It is costly around 200.00 but it does help alot.

If I were going to consider something as drastic as moving, I would first take you both to an allergist. If you can find exactly what it is making you sick you can better figure out how to deal with it.

Halloween Re: Would you move because of allergies?

Recent research into climate change and plant growth indicates that both people and their pets may have a tougher time with allergies in the future.
Even pets' allergies are getting worse. Read the article below for more information and then click on the link to read the full article. Very interesting perspective.

Leaving aside the discussion about what is causing the warming of the Earth's climate, it seems that warmer temperatures and increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are helping plants grow faster.
This can mean more pollen in the air to stimulate allergies. My nose is telling me that the fall pollen season has started, and it may be worse this year than in the past.
Global warming can make pets' allergies worse
