Default Help! Where to buy VISa gift card...

Hi, I have (2) $100 VISA gift cards and I need to find somewhere I can buy just (1) VISA gift card for $200. Can I even use these 2 to buy one? I need to get this today if possible. Thanks for any help...

You'll need to have the cashier "split the transaction." If you attempt to buy $200 worth, and they try to charge the $100 card, that $100 card will be denied. They will need to run the card through for $100 (if you're lost... same idea if you wanted to buy something, but pay with half cash and half with a credit card, that's splitting the transaction as well).

    CVS and Safeway have these.

Thanks for the info. Does CVS sell cards in greater denomination than $100? I need it for an online transaction and I can't split a transaction online.

are you sure the online transaction would work? first of all?

because I JUST about 2 days ago tried to pay a paypal invoice with a American Express gift card(cause I didnt want my hubby to know how much I was spending LOL !!! - so I used my own money to go buy the gift cards and pay---) well PP kept denying my card. I figured it was verifying my ZIP against the card so I called AMEX and they said Paypal and Ebay DONT ACCEPT the amex gift cards!!!! even though they accept amex!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrr thank goodness for my mom! :)
ETA---even though they were able to attach my name and addy to the card, it still got denyed bc I tried it anyways afterwards.

    just a heads up!!!

You might try calling the CS number of the website from which you want to make a purchase. They might know a way to charge the 2 different cards to make your purchase.
I can't be done shopping, I still have coupons left!!!

Most banks sell Visa Gift Cards. TDBank just changed their fee schedule so that there is no fee to purchase the cards now, I think it used to be 3.95 each card. You can get any denomination you choose if I am not mistaken. Not sure if they will allow you to buy 1-200.00 one with 2-100.00 tho

Well DH was able to buy a $200 Simon Giftcard, but is unable to use it online. The internet company is blaming the card, and the card is blaming the internet company, so I don't know why it's not working. It's ridiculous that you can't even spend your own money how you want to. If it was a credit card (read: other people's money/money you don't have) they would accept it in a heartbeat. No wonder the economy is a mess!

Now I'm reading reviews online about how BAD Simon Giftcards are, and that they are nonrefundable and can't be cashed out. ARRRRGH!!!

Honestly - I avoid these gift cards as gifts b/c so many people have trouble with them. My MIL had a very bad experience once at a Borders where she spent less than the gift card amount but they took off the whole $50. I have also had them denied for online purchases and once the balance got "erased" due to a glitch in the way they verified the card - that was a huge hassle to get resolved.
