Default Re: I need wedding help!! (A bit long)

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! Let me answer a few of the questions brought up....

The ceremony is at 12:30, reception starts at 1pm, so I think we have to serve lunch. If we would have thought ahead, we would have started it at 3! LOL!!

As far as alcohol goes, there is a bartender there, the boat club provides it, we are not allowed to bring anything in with us. (we were only allowed to bring the cake) The drinks are fairly cheap, 1.50-1.75 for beer and mixed drinks. We are planning on setting a certain spending amount for that, and when we get to it, it will be a cash bar after that. We are not shelling out a ton of cash on liquor!

I LOVE the sheet cake idea, but the cake is already done and paid for. We decided on cupcakes set up in the shape of a wedding cake, and a small cake for the top.

As far as a contract with the caterer goes, we did not have one. It was all done verbally, over the phone. Believe me, that is one mistake I will NEVER make again!!

I agree with the annoying DJ comments! I certainly don't want to stand up there and do the 'Chicken Dance' in my already too hot wedding dress!!!

Have a wonderful wedding! Don't stress too much about the finances - even the best planned budget often goes awry with big events. We planned ours down to the T and still went $500 over due to things coming up last minute - but it was all worth it. We got married in our own backyard (which cut costs) and I bought my dress off the clearance rack and got the kids clothes used on ebay, but we splurged on live music, lots of wine, and great food. It was a day we will always remember. WHenever I get frustrated with my DH (which is not uncommon these days) I think back to that day and how in love I was with him - and I know we will get through the tough times ahead of us. Enjoy your special day.
