DS#1 was just looking at DH's USMC Graduation picture with the whole platoon, taken back in 1987. DS said 'Is Daddy in this picture?' like he's never seen the picture before (which he has a zillion times) I said 'yes, let me find him for you'. So when I pointed him out, ds said 'No Mommy, OUR daddy. Is OUR daddy in the picture?' lol 20 years later and 50 guys all dressed alike - I guess its enough to confuse any 4 year old.

When my sister was about 3 or so, she was preparing for a trip to the dentist. I told her that if she is brave at the dentist's she'll be a "star!" She looked at me with a concerned look on her face and said, "I don't want to be a star, I want to be a heart!"

She's 14 now and I still love quoting all the cute things she used to say!

When I was about 17 and in high school, my youngest nephew was about 5. My musical taste has always been on the heavy side: rock, metal, etc. One day, I was in my bedroom and listening to either Tool or The Union Underground, and my nephew wanders in my room, listens a second, and says, "Wow, Cass! I like your dead music!" I love that little guy, lol.

His older brother was having a problem with one of his teachers in 1st grade. The teacher was pregnant, and just outright didn't like little boys. He came home one day and out of nowhere says, "Cass, I wish she'd lay her baby already so I can get a new teacher." I felt bad for him, but to him no one had babies, had puppies, etc. They layed them. lol

The preschool teacher told me a cute thing that ds#1 said.

She had the hiccups and one of the teacher's aides told her that she sounding like a skipping record. The teacher said that it was funny but that probably none of the kids even knew what a record was. So she asked the class 'Does anyone know what a record is?' My ds raised his hand and when she asked him 'Steven, tell us what a record is', he said 'It's when you put 100 kids on a school bus' lol

When dd was 2 1/2 or 3 we were in line at an Office store.
She looks at the person behind us, and then exclaims to me... Mommy, she's ugly. (it was a fact, trust me). I tried to shush her and tell her not to say that. But she keeps going ..But she IS mommy, look! I did my best to crawl under the cart and hide both of us from embarrasment. We did have a talk in the car when we left on appropriateness of other poeple's feelings. Us having been careful not to say bad things about appaerances previoulsy, she had no idea that could hurt someone's feelings. No problems since.

A little background: A single friend of my husbands named Eric who is also a sailor on the same ship as dh, stays the weekend with us when the ship is home. The last few weekends before they deployed he had shaved his head completely.

Well, Since the ship left I've been focusing more on my couponing. We were in Walgreens the other day and there was a bald man picking up his prescriptions also in the store. It was obvious that he was very sick and had probably lost his hair due to his illness or treatment. Well, we're checking out behind him and all of a sudden Mara (my 4 year old daughter) yells at the top of her lungs "Look Mama! That man has no hair! He looks just like Daddy's friend Eric!". I was moritified! The man looked at her and gave her a weak smile. I smiled at him and apologized profusely, then I bent down and told her not to say another word. Once we got in the car I explained to her that sometimes people get really sick and lose all of their hair. She pondered this all the way to the next Walgreens. We got to the next Walgreens and once we got to the back of the store she yells once again at the top of her lungs "Mama! Once the sick people get well again, they'll get their hair back, right?". Once again, mortified. I told her not to say anything the rest of the time we were in the store again and hurried.

That was a long day...

My brother is color blind. When he was about 4, we were driving in the car and were stopped at a red light. In the car next to us was an african american family. The windows were down on both vehicles and my brother looks at the little boy in the backseat and says.."Gee, I wish I was a blue boy"

I'll tell you what though - that poor sick man probably went home laughing to tell his wife about the cute little girl in Walgreens. Most people think kids are funny when they come out with such honest opinions. I can't imagine what mine will eventually come up with.

Probably something like "HEY MAMA! That lady doesn't have any coupons! Is she stupid? Doesn't she know she doesn't have to pay for stuff?"

Such sweet little angels.

My grandaughter has been spending a lot of time with us lately. She's 3, and she's picking up a lot of things from being around my husband and me. Today, I sat down at the computer to check PMs and posts. She walked up to me...looked at the screen and said, "What are you doing...Coupons??" So I asked her how she knew. And she said, "The puter is orange!" Guess she already knows about HCW!!!! LOL!
