I bought the heart shaped lip glosses from the 75% clearance aisle. I asked before I purchased and the cashier (one of my faves) said they weren't working. I tried anyway.

They worked. I sent DH to put DD in the car, grabbed a basket and went back to the clearance section, but she beat me there. I certainly don't want them to get in trouble, they are too nice to me and my daughter!!

I dunno...I got them for $1.25 each, not .75, so $3.75 is not insignificant. Plus, I can't return them. So I thought I'd call corp. I guess you're right that I shouldn't complain, but rather just ask if the items qualify.

While you don't want to get them in trouble, this is HIGHLY unethical. They cannot pull merchandise off the sales floor just because they *think* it shouldn't be working like that. If they weren't "meant to ring like that" then the computer wouldn't print the ECBs. They were completely and totally in the wrong to pull the items off the shelf because they were printing the ECB. I would honestly think long and hard about calling customer service just to let corporate know what this store is capable of. Nowhere in the ad does it exclude clearance items.

It's just like a store manager hiding all the Softsoap or CVS pain reliever in the back until the sale is over just because it's free after ECBs and there's a coupon for it.

I'm willing to bet that "someone" wanted the moneymaker to themselves and pulled them off the shelves because of that.
