I always give the $/$$ first. Once when I had a $4/$20, they scanned my manufacturer's coupons first, bringing my total down to about $14, and the $4/$20 then would not work. Not sure if that is always the case, or this was an isolated incident, but since then I am very careful about the order in which I present the coupons.

I've read somewhere in here that the register would remember you had $50 worth of products but the cashier might tell you that you didn't satisfy the $50 so just give that Q first to avoid the hassle. HTH

Thank you both for your help. I will do my very best to make sure they scan the $10/$50 first.

The best way to ensure that they scan them in your order is to hand them over in the order you want them, in sections. Hand over your x/xx and have them scan it. Then hand over your ECBs and have them scan those. Lastly hand them your MQs. If they say they need them all, tell them that you would rather keep track of what's been scanned so that nothing is missed (they wouldn't take someone's wallet and take money out in the order they wanted, would they?). It's YOUR money. If you are trying to "fly under the radar," this may not work best for you. (totally not me!) :)

That's exactly how I do it, in sections (except ECB's last).

First $/$$ (when I have any, which isn't often anymore.)
Then CVS coupons
Then MQ's
Then ECB's
Then the OOP, which usually isn't much.

The cashiers at my CVS are used to me giving them everything in sections that way, and they don't mind at all.

(I know some people give MQ's last, but in Texas it doesn't matter, since tax is only paid on the final total after all other discounts have been applied. So if your oop is 67 cents, you'll pay tax on 67 cents, no matter in what order you hand them everything).

I would think the only time this order wouldn't work is if you were going to need them to adjust down one of your ecb's...in that case you would need to give that ecb last. You generally can't get the mq adjusted down, and once the ecb is scanned, that's it...they can't adjust it after the fact.

I am so glad I read this! I was using another site, and gave my manu coupons before my ECB's. This is a huge help. Thanks for the tips!

Ok I am a little confused.

If my total is 25.74 I have a 5/25 and 8.96 in Ecbs. making my total 11.78 does the tax go off the 11.78? here in MN our tax rate is 7.125. making the total 12.62?
-9.90 Q
-.99 Q

Making my total 1.73 OOP? Is that right?
