Discuss CVS Frequently Asked Questions at the CVS within the HotCouponWorld; Rookies:Suggested Reading
Basic C VS Information
What is the phone number to call if I ...
What is the phone number to call if I have a problem?
1-800-SHOP-CVS
Does CVS accept coupons?
Yes! They accept manufacturer's coupons (including Internet printables), their own CVS coupons, and competitor's coupons for new/transferred prescriptions. They do not accept other store coupons like the Walgreen's Instant Value Coupons.
Some people have reported that their stores accept Walgreen’s IVC’s; however it is NOT company policy to accept them. Stores in some areas are in fierce, head-to-head competition with new Walgreen’s stores. Their acceptance in those areas is at the sole discretion of the store manager.
Is there a limit to how many internet printables they will accept?
Not to my knowledge. They do, however, have the right to refuse the coupons if they question their legitimacy. I have never used more than 3-4 printables in any one order, and not all were identical. If you walked in with 12 printables for the same item, I doubt that they would be accepted in one trip. Use common sense with printables.
Does CVS price match other store's sales?
No.
Can I use more than one manufacturer’s coupon on a B1G1 free promotion?
The official company line is yes, but YMMV according to your store manager.
Is there a limit to how many coupons I can use in one transaction?
According to corporate, you can use one CVS coupon and one Manufacturer coupon per item.
The newer programming on the registers will allow you to use the coupons above, PLUS as many Extra Care Bucks as you would like to use to pay for the transaction, up to the dollar value of the order. There used to be a limit of one CVS coupon per item, and the register counted ECBs in its item counter logic.
Do I get overage on my coupons?
The registers are not programmed to allow overage~ you should get the items free though!
EX: The last coupon in a family will beep. If you bought 10 Suave products at $.99 each and used 10 x $1.00/1 coupons, the register would beep to tell the cashier "Maximum Value $.90" for the last one. If you just have 1 coupon, they will modify the coupon value.
I had a coupon for $30 on an item that was on sale for $30, but it beeped. Why did that happen when it was for the selling price?
The CVS registers are programmed to require a manager's approval on coupons that are over $10. All they have to do is check it-- it will go through with no problems.
If the item is on sale for $29.99 and you use a $30 coupon, they will have to check it AND adjust the price to the cost of the item.
Can I use coupons on clearance items?
Yes. If they give you a hard time, call corporate. They will straighten it out!
The reason they have a problem is that they have frequently taken the items out of inventory and crossed out the bar codes. This leaves nothing for the coupons to ‘match up to’ in their registers. They are still supposed to take the coupons, but will need to enter them as MFR coupons instead of scanning them.
I have a coupon good on "CVS brand items". What does this apply to?
CVS labeled items (of course!), Absolutely Devine, Blade, Essence of Beauty, Gold Emblem, Stars and Stripes, Round the House, Boots, Merry Brights, NeoStrata CoverBlend by Exuviance, Organic Essentials, Fun in the Sun, Playskool, Life Fitness, Nuprin, Cristophe, Ellin Lavar, PreVentin-AT, Skin Effects, Lumene, and Pure Digital.
You may encounter some resistance because some of them are "marketed exclusively at CVS", but they are generally considered CVS brands.
What are you talking about when you mention "fillers"?
Fillers are small items that you can use to "fill out" the amount you need to buy when you have a CVS coupon good for things like $5 off a $20 purchase. You may have bought items that total $19.75, and need $.25 to be able to use the coupon. This is when you grab a clearance item, candy bar, single pencil, etc. You spend $.25 to save $5.00
Where can I find the rebate forms and booklets that everyone is talking about?
The rebate pads are either behind the counter- ask the cashier- or on a pad dangling from a hook at the register. These haven’t been seen for quite a while, though.
The other little booklets are generally somewhere around the pharmacy counter in little stands. For example, the “Heartbeat” booklet was found on the pharmacy counter next to their register at my CVS.
When does CVS post the weekly sale ads online?
You can go to the CVS website and sign up for a notification email.
Can I have more than one CVS store card?
Yes. You can have one for every member of the family and the dog. The website even says “sign in with another card’.
Gift Cards for New or Transferred Prescriptions
Can I get more than one gift card for new or transferred prescriptions?
Yes, unless it specifically states one per customer/household, etc.
You do need a coupon for this. They won’t just give it to you if you ask for it!
My CVS has a sign that says "We honor competitor RX coupons". What’s that about?
If you have a coupon from Target or another local pharmacy for a transferred prescription gift card, they will honor it as if it were a CVS coupon.
They follow the wording on the coupon, so if it says “One per customer”, it’s one per customer!
They rarely know how to make the computer system accept them.
I usually use another pharmacy for my prescriptions. Can I just have my doctor call in the prescription to my usual store and then call and have them transfer it to CVS so that I can get the gift card?
No. This is considered prescription fraud. To obtain a gift card you must have a prescription that has already been filled elsewhere and has refills left. You can either call to give them the prescription info to transfer it, or bring in the old bottle to CVS and they will make the call from there.
I am going to pick up a prescription with Workmen’s Compensation funding. Can I use a coupon for the free $25 GC with this or is this considered a government funded program?
You will not be eligible for a gift card for those prescriptions.
Returns and Guarantees
What happens if I need to return something that I used coupons or ECBs to purchase?
The correct way to do this is to give you the amount that you actually paid as a cash return, and put the value of the ECBs back onto a CVS money card.
CVS Return Policy Purchasing ahead of a promotion and returning to re-buy is in violation of the CVS return policy, and is considered abuse of the return policy. Doing so repeatedly can result in canceling a shoppers card and getting banned from the store.
Standard Online Return Policy If you received a damaged package or there is an order discrepancy, please contact our Customer Care Specialists immediately by phone at (888) 607-4CVS (4287) or via email at customercare@cvs.com. Include the order number along with the reason for the return when you contact us. CVS.com may credit shipping charges if your merchandise is defective or damaged.
Nonprescription Returns Our hassle-free return policy allows you to return products either to the store or by mail within 30 days of receipt, subject to the exceptions cited below:
Store Returns: Bring any unopened, damaged, or defective nonprescription item(s) along with your receipt (invoice) to any CVS/pharmacy store to get a credit of the full purchase price.
Mail Returns: Call Customer Care to return items by mail. We will take your information, provide return instructions, and alert the fulfillment center so that both your return and credit refund are processed accurately.
CVS Brand Guarantee All CVS brand products and all cosmetics are 100% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. If you are dissatisfied for any reason, you can return the CVS brand or cosmetic product (opened or unopened) along with your receipt or invoice. We will refund the full purchase price--no questions asked
CVS Store Coupons
ECBs? CRTs? EIEIO?
ECBs are the CVS Extra Care Bucks that you earn by completing their promotions.
CRTs are the randomly generated coupons that print at the bottom of your receipt.
EIEIO is part of the chorus to the song "Old MacDonald Had a Farm".
How is everyone getting all these $3/15, $4/20, $5/20 coupons?
The $/$ coupons on your receipt are randomly generated. The amount you get is probably based on previous spending totals. Sometimes you get a bunch in a few months and then go for months with none.
Coupons are also sent via snail mail, email or are printed in the newspaper or magazines. Keep an eye on the threads at HCW for information on which publications have these.
I got a $4/20 coupon in my email for updating my account. How many times can I print and use it?
It is limit one per customer. This is stated in the promo in the weekly ad.
Can I use more than one $/$ coupon on my order?
No. The coupons now state: *Maximum $X value. Limit of one purchase-based savingscoupon, i.e., $2 off $10 purchase, $3 off $15 purchase, $4 off $20 purchase, $5 off $30 purchase, $10 off $50 purchase, $15 off $75 purchase, per transaction. See the bottom of this email for further disclaimer information.
The disclaimer is: This coupon is the copyrighted property of CVS; it is intended for use by ExtraCare cardholders who subscribe to CVS's email program and have received this message directly from CVS/pharmacy. CVS/pharmacy reserves the right to reject any coupon presented by parties outside of the original distribution list. Original coupon must be relinquished at the time of purchase. Coupon is void if copied, transferred and where prohibited by law. CVS/pharmacy will not accept offers printed from unauthorized internet postings or reproductions, copies, or facsimiles of this offer.
My CRT coupon says “not to be used with any other coupon”. What’s that about?
You can not use two identical coupons. If your CRT's coupons have the same 5-digit code, most stores will not push the second one through.
When do the CVS coupons and ECB expire?
The weekly coupons that print on your receipt generally expire in a couple of weeks. The ECB expire 4 weeks from the time that they are printed.
If you accidentally let the ECB expire, you are out of luck. Since the advent of the instant printing ECBs, you can NOT call and have your ECBs reset.
Customer service has, on a very few occasions, created a NEW ECB to replace the expired or lost ones, but I would not count on this lasting for long. Once people are accustomed to the new instant printing system, any concessions will undoubtedly disappear.
How do I get these ECB/Extra Care Coupons to print, anyway?
The coupons and ECBs print at the bottom of your receipt when you make a qualifying purchase.
Can I print the CRT coupons from my home computer?
No. When the ECBs printed after 48 hours and were visible on the website, it was possible, but not any longer.
I found a whole bunch of CVS coupons on a receipt in the parking lot! Can I use them?
Unfortunately, the answer here is a resounding NO. The CVS register coupons will only work with the card that was originally scanned to generate them. So even if you have a card, and your spouse has a card, you can't use their coupons and vice versa.
When I tried to make a purchase using the coupons from the Heartbeat book (or another CVS booklet), the first one went through OK, but they wouldn’t take the rest. Why?
Most of the coupons from CVS booklets are limit one per customer, and the registers are only programmed to accept one of each type of coupon.
You can use them on just about anything in the store, not just CVS brand products.
Exclusions: prescriptions, alcohol, tobacco, lottery, stamps, gift cards, money orders and pre-paid debit cards (this includes prepaid phone cards).
My receipt says I have $3 in ECB. Why didn't my order reflect a $3 discount?
ECB are coupons that you earn. They print at the bottom of your receipt for various promotions.
You NEED TO MAKE SURE that you cut them off the receipt and save them before you throw out the receipt or mail it off for a rebate
Can I buy something for $3 and use a $5 ECB?
You could, but you would lose money. You must use the full amount of the ECB, because it will not carry over or give you money back.
Will you still get the Extra Care Bucks if you forget your CVS card?
Give the cashier your phone number, and it will credit your Extra Care account with your purchases.
How can I see what ECBs I have earned?
Look at the bottom of your receipt. Each week, there will be a list of the purchases that you have made toward the various promotions, and whether or not the limits have been reached.
How do I read the Extra Care page?
Under Current Extra Care balances, pay attention to the headings.
Description--Point Balance--End Date-- Promotion Details 2ND QTR 2007 SPENDING—47.46-- 6/16/2007-- EARN 2% BACK ON ALMOST ALL NON-PRESCRIPTION PURCHASES EVERYDAY.
HERSHEY CANDY BARS – 3 – 1/1/2008 -- BUY 10 HERSHEY OR REESE SINGLE BARS, EARN 1 FREE (RETAIL VALUE $.65
The points are the dollars spent toward the quarterly ECB bonus. In this case, I have spent 47.46 toward the 2% for the 4th quarter. I also have 3 candy bars toward the B10G1 Free 2007 Extra Promo.
I bought some things for this week's ECB promotion, and my ECB didn't print on my receipt. What gives?
This generally means that you purchased the wrong item toward the promotion. On rare occasions, they don’t have the item listed correctly in the system. Make absolutely sure that you have purchased the correct size item to get the ECBs.
EX: If a Colgate promo says (in the very fine print at the bottom) 4.3 oz size, you will NOT get credit for the promo if you buy the 6.4 oz toothpaste.
If I accidentally let things expire, can I get them back, or am I out of luck?
If you accidentally let the ECB expire, you are out of luck. Since the advent of the instant printing ECBs, you can NOT call and have your ECBs reset.
Customer service has, on a very few occasions, created a NEW ECB to replace the expired or lost ones, but I would not count on this lasting for long. Once people are accustomed to the new instant printing system, any concessions will undoubtedly disappear. The weekly CRT coupons are a promotional bonus and CANNOT be reset.
I lost my ECBs. Can I call customer service and have them reprinted?
No. They will not reissue ECBs that have been lost. This is why we emphasize that you must be extremely careful with them. Treat your ECBs the same way you treat your cash!
Regarding expirations on the ECB and coupons:
The CVS expiration is not only tied to the date, but the TIME they printed out (either online or at the store). This explains why the coupons sometimes beep, even though you are using them on the day they expire.
EX: You get a $4/20 coupon that printed at the register on xx/xx/2005 at 11am, and you scamper off to use it on the last day that the coupon is valid. You do this at 4pm. The coupon will beep, because according to their register's "logic", it is already expired.
It's not a huge issue, since they can do their magic and put it through, but is something to be aware of!
Earning Extra Care Bucks
If an ECB offer says "Limit 1 Offer", does that mean one a day?
No. It means limit one offer per card for the entire promotional period. So if it's a weekly deal, the limit is one per card per week. If it’s a monthly deal, the limit is one per card per month.
My CVS starts their sales on Saturday before the new ad comes out. Will I get the ECB for the next week’s promos?
No. You need to shop on the days that the sale ad states the promo is valid. For example, if there is a “$10 in ECB WYB $20 of P&G products”, you might get the sale prices on the items on Saturday, but you will not get the ECB, since the promo runs Sunday-Saturday.
When CVS has their "Buy $xxx worth of _____, get $xxx ECB" promotions, is the amount required to qualify before or after coupons?
The qualifying amount is BEFORE coupons! You can use CVS coupons, MFR coupons, and other ECB to get the total down!
When the promo is product-specific, like "Kimberly-Clark" or "Pond's", there are no problems getting the ECB, even if you actually PAID very little or got them free after coupons.
When the promo is "Buy $xxx worth of ANYTHING IN THE STORE this week, and earn $xxx ECB", people have had problems with getting their credits to register if they have used a lot of coupons.
When they have a "Buy xxx worth of ________, and earn $xxx ECB" promotions, and the items are on sale B1G1 Free, do both of them count toward the promo?
If the ECB deal is buy a specific amount of MONEY in order to obtain the ECB, then only the one you actually pay for counts. The free one does NOT count.
If the ECB deal is buy a specific number of ITEMS in order to obtain the ECB, then both items will count.
When CVS has their "Buy $xxx worth of _____, get $xxx ECB" promotions, do I have to buy the whole $xxx worth at one time, or can I do more than one transaction?
You can buy the items at different times, or even at different stores. As long as you buy the items during the week of the promo, the totals are cumulative and you will get the ECB award.
Occasionally, they will have a promotion that requires them all to be purchased in one transaction, and it will be stated in the ad.
The total amount that you have purchased toward the promo will be listed at the bottom of your receipt, and it will state whether the limit for that promo has been reached.
If I do several different promos in the same day, how do the ECBs print out? As one big ECB, or separate ones for each promo?
Each promo will print a separate ECB.
If CVS has an ECB deal that is unlimited or has a limit of more than one and I buy them all in the same day, how do the ECBs print out?
All of the ECBs earned on a given day for EACH promo will be combined into one larger ECB.
EX: when they had the "Buy Alka-Seltzer for $3 and get $3 in ECBs", the deal did not have a limit. If you bought 3 Alka-Seltzer in one day, they were combined into a single $9 ECB. If you only bought one on the following day, that would print as a single $3 ECB.
If there was another promo running at the same time, you earned one combined ECB for the Alka-Seltzer and one combined ECB for whatever else you bought.
My CVS store did not have enough of ECB promotion item in stock to make my purchase reach the amount ($10) required to earn ECB. How do they handle that when I get a raincheck?
Since the advent of the instantly printing ECBs, the stores should write the raincheck for the price of the item AFTER ECBs would have been earned.
EX: If an item was on sale for $6.99 with a $4 ECB, the raincheck should be written for $2.99. If the item was on sale for $3.99 with a $3.99 ECB, the raincheck should be written as FREE AFTER ECBs.
When people are writing about ECB-generating offers that are not listed in my local flyer - will it work for me?
The ECBs have not been working for people who did not have them in their regional ads. So if for example, you buy Kotex and Irish Spring and they are not in your ad, you are taking a risk that you will not get ECBs.
Can I earn the advertised ECBs when I shop online?
No. ECBs are earned for in-store purchases only.
Redeeming Extra Care Bucks
Can I use my ECBs to buy stamps or gift cards?
Since this goes directly against the CVS corporate policy for ECBs, the answer is no.
The wording from the website is as follows: "Coupon may only be redeemed once. Limit one coupon per customer. Excludes prescriptions, alcohol, tobacco, lottery, stamps, gift cards, money orders and pre-paid debit cards."
Can I use more than one ECB per transaction?
Yes, as long as you are still within the register counter logic described in the Basic Information section.
What do you mean by "rolling" my ECBs?
This is the term for using ECBs earned on a previous promotion to pay for another promotion that earns ECBs. It minimizes the amount that you have to spend out of pocket for the promotions.
EX: Buy 1 Alka-Seltzer at $3, get $3 ECB, no limit
Transaction #1: buy 3 A-S, total will be $9. Use coupons (3 x $1/1 mfr and 1 CVS Alka-Seltzer coupon) to bring total down to $5. Pay. A $9 ECB will print.
Transaction #2: Go back, buy 3 more A-S and use another $4 of coupons, total is $5. Add some other stuff to bring total to $9. Pay with your first $9 ECB. Then, another $9 ECB prints.
Rinse and repeat!
All of the purchases of one product in one transaction will be combined into a single ECB. For example, if you buy 10 Alka-Seltzer in the same transaction, each of which will earn $3 ECB, you would get one $30 ECB. People who buy large quantities of a particular deal in a single transaction get larger ECBs.
Regarding validity and the ECB coupons:
Some people have reported that they go to the store and buy the items for one promotion to get their ECBs to print. Then, when they try to use the ECBs on a subsequent transaction, it comes up "Card does not match", even though they JUST used their card to get it to print!
This occurs when you try to use a coupon that has just become available to print on that day. If you wait another day to use it, this message won't appear. They can just push it through, so it's not that big a deal.
Can I use my ECBs to pay when I shop online?
Any ECBs earned in stores cannot be used to check out online. The only ECBs that may be redeemed online are the quarterly ones. And since those are usually only a couple of bucks at the most, it doesn't even pay for shipping.
Special Promotions
CVS is doing a promo to get TRIPLE the ECBs when you purchase either in-store or online AND they have free shipping over $49 for the online deal. Is this as good as it sounds?
Before you get too excited, it's not 3x the ECB for every promotion. It is 3x the credit for what you spend toward your quarterly ECB (which ordinarily gives you 2% back). The ECB promotions from the stores do not apply to online purchases.
So if you spent $25 in the quarter in purchases, you would get $1.50 in ECB rather than $.50. See question below for the 2% ECB scale. It's not the deal that they make it out to be.
CVS gives 2% back in ECB on your purchases. What's the fine print on that?
The 2% comes for every $25 IN PURCHASES per quarter. This is the amount that you actually paid after coupons, so if you bought $40 worth of merchandise and only paid $6 after coupons, you will get the credit for the $6 in actual money that went through their register.
The $$$ that goes toward the quarterly ECBs is cash or credit/debit transactions. CVS gift cards that are earned as rewards from other programs (like Discover rewards) will count toward quarterly spending. If you paid using ECBs or gift cards earned for prescriptions, that money 'spent' does count.
However: If you get a gift card for a new/transferred prescription, they subtract the value of the card from your points for the quarter.
This isn't as big a hassle as it might seem, since you get $1 in ECB for every 2 prescriptions that you fill. You would need to spend $50+ on other things to get the $1 reward, so you still come out way ahead, even if you do lose the points for the gift card! These print once per quarter with the rest of the quarterly ECBs.
The best way to get around this is to use one card to get the gift card for the prescription and another card when you spend the gift card.
For example, if you spend: 0-24.99 dollars during the quarter -- you get NOTHING. 25-49.99 dollars ............................. you get $.50 in ECB. 50-74.99 dollars ............................. you get $1.00 in ECB. 75-99.99 dollars ............................. you get $1.50 in ECB. Ad infinitum...
The quarterly ECB print out on the first day of the month following the end of the quarter.
EX: The ECB for the quarter ending 12/16/08 begin to print on 1/1/09.
How do the quarters run?
They are calendar quarters, so January-March, April-June, July-September and October-December.
Miscellaneous Questions If I get a rain check for an item that is on sale that produces ECBs, can I get a rain
heck for that item where the ECBs will print upon it's redemption? Yes, you may. There is a series of numbers for the offer called the event code. That event code should noted on the rain check. Once you redeem your rain check, the cashier will use those numbers to manually produce your ECBs for you.
CVS has the OneTouch blood glucose monitors on sale for $30. There is a coupon for $30, plus a manufacturer's MIR! Can I really make $30 on this deal?
No, but you will get it free. The manufacturer will not honor the rebate if the coupon is used, so don't even bother trying to do it!
Why does some stuff that is brand new to the market go on clearance?
This answer came straight from my favorite cashier! Frequently, new merchandise will come in to the store in one of those cardboard 'dump' boxes that get set up in the front or in an aisle. When enough of the stuff has sold that the display looks really ratty, they will often put the items on clearance.
The item is so new that it has not made it onto their 'shelf planners', so they have nowhere to PUT the stuff on the shelves, but they also can't leave a mostly empty cardboard display on the floor. Guess who gets the benefit of this? The observant couponer, that's who!
How does my FSA (Flexible Spending Account) work with CVS purchases?
CVS will actually mail you a separate printout of all the federally approved FSA items that you have bought in the past. This is valid for submission to your FSA. You provide the time frame – EX: Jan 2008-Dec 2008.
From the CVS website: We're sorry, but this service is temporarily unavailable online. You can request your FSA spending, by calling 1-800-SHOP CVS. Please allow 8 to 10 days to receive your FSA spending information.

Re: CVS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)-- Updated and Improved!
Hello, I have a question about CVS policy. Do the policies range from store to store or is there one overarching CVS policy for all franchises? I ask because today I went to CVS intending to use ECBs to pay for my purchase. This is what happened:
I brought my stuff up to the checkout, I had a few manufacturer's coupons, but I did NOT have or use any CVS coupons (no $/$$ coupons, no save $ on $$ worth of ___ coupons, no coupons from the circular). When it all rang up, and I presented my ECBs, the woman said to me, "You can't use ECBs and use manufacturer's coupons at the same time. You have to pay with some real money."
This had never happened to me -- the day before I went to the same CVS and the other cashier let me pay for my full purchase using ECBs after I had applied some mfr coupons. I didn't want to bring this fact up to the cashier b/c I didn't want to get the other cashier in trouble for allowing me to do this.
She wouldn't budge, even when I said I didn't bring any cash since I was planning to use my ECBs. So she cancelled my order. And kept my coupons, thankyouverymuch.
Re: CVS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)-- Updated and Improved!
#1. She can't keep your coupons if the order was cancelled. That's entirely wrong and I would not have left the store without them.
#2. She's delusional. There's no policy stating this "rule" in any store--anywhere. ECB's are real money. You exchanged your cash at a previous time to get them. It's the same as if you'd used a gift certificate. And manuf. coupons are a form of payment that they are reimbursed for-- in cash.
Call the manager and lodge a complaint against that cashier. She's making up things as she goes along, she's stealing coupons (perhaps for her own use), and she's driving away customers.

sure. the hershey deal is - buy 10 regularly priced ( not 2/$1.00 prepriced) hershey bars, and get a coupon that prints 48 hours later for a free hershey bar. ( the free one counts as bar 1 for the next deal, btw.)
it seems to run from jan 1 to dec 31 each year.

What's the policy on this?
Absolutely agree with gctattoo. The cashier had no right to keep your coupons. They were your property and she should have given them back to you as you did not buy anything. I would call the manager AND send an email to corporate. If you get a reply from the corporate, print it out and carry with you. Such behavior should not be tolerated. As for not taking the ECBs... Does she work at CVS or what??? Poor training, when a customer has to educate a cashier on how to do his/her job. Honestly, next time, ask for the manager right on the spot and complain to her/him in the nicest way you can. Then, if the manager is not willing to help you, complain to the district manager and corporate. Do not let this spoil your shopping experience at CVS!
Re: CVS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)-- Updated and Improved!
I agree with ekoury. One CVS I went to tried to keep my coupons after I cancelled a transaction. They kept insisting the coupons would not work (these were manu q's, btw) even after the void ! I was like, What ?? Give me my q's ! And I reported them to corporate. Now when I go in there, they are as sweet as pie, even adjusting coupon amounts for me !
I'm now an Avon Independent Sales Rep - For Orders, Clcik HERE or PM me for questions !
Re: CVS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)-- Updated and Improved!
Thanks you guys, for all the positive responses to my negative CVS experience. Next time I go in there, I will bring the issue up with a manager if a cashier pulls this on me again.
Most of the time when I go during the day, I can use the Self-Check Out machine and run all my Q's through and use my ECBs, but sometimes the machine gets held up on the "insert coupon now" part. Still, because I go to CVS quite frequently, I like the anonimity of the machine but sadly, very few CVSs have the Self-Check Out.
Has anyone ever noticed that some CVS cashiers are "onto you" -- for instance, sometimes when I go to a CVS with all my Q's and ECBs, the cashier rolls his/her eyes as if to say, "Here we go again..."
It's happened to me once when I was purchasing stuff, and once when I was returning stuff (stuff that I was obviously buying for ECBs - I had bought more than the quantity limit by accident).

my view of the fusion razor is that it is a weekly deal, repeated.
( the difference to you is that a monthly deal with a limit of 4 could all be bought on one day, but a weekly deal, limit of 1 a week would need to be bought once a week all month, needing 4 visits to get up to the limit.)
this makes no diff if you live 3 blocks from cvs, but if you drive an hour to get there.........

OK, so I'm sure I understand this too... Do the monthly ECB deals ALSO get printed in the weekly ads? If so, then if I see an ECB deal in the weekly ad (such as the razors) I should check in the monthly booklet to make sure it's NOT a monthly one right? And also, do the monthly deals stay on the bottom of my receipt all month? I notice that the razor said limit reached the week I bought it but this week it is not there. So does that tell me that it's NOT a monthly deal too?
Re: CVS Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)-- Updated and Improved!
I need some help with understanding CVS policies.
Last night I went in to purchase a gamer razor. It was xxx dollars (sorry forgot price) and get back $4.00 ECB.
They didn't have any, so I asked for a raincheck. The cashier says no. I asked why, she says because we don't do that. So I asked 'why', she says we don't do that. I am thinking to myself, self did that make any sense? Self answers...nope.
I feel that I didn't get a real answer. Then the cashier says 'you could travel around to different cvs''.
Is there an official policy on rainchecks with ECB?
I have gotten several rainchecks in the past for items that have ECB attached to them. I haven't used them yet because when I have asked 'how' to use them, the response it always the same...don't know!
